FRAMINGHAM, MA — The City mailed third-quarter real estate tax bills on Wednesday, March 17, and mailed fourth-quarter bills Wednesday, March 31. Both are due Monday, May 3.
Because the third- and fourth-quarter bills were created close together, the fourth quarter bills included a tally for both the third- and fourth-quarter real estate taxes.
NOTE: there are no past due fees charged in the fourth-quarter bills that tally the third- and fourth-quarter taxes.
While the “third quarter due” appears in the field that says “past due,” that is due to an unchangeable bill template only — again, NO PAST DUE FEES/NO INTEREST are being charged.
The only instance where penalties or interest would appear on the property tax bill would be if the taxpayer did not pay the first or second quarter bill or the prior fiscal year bill.
Tax bills were delayed as the City worked to fix a $2.5 million deficit before the State of Massachusetts would approve the City’s tax rate.
The City is working with its payment vendor, City Hall Systems, to ensure third- and fourth-quarter real estate tax payments that are automatically scheduled to be withdrawn on May 3, 2021 are correct.
Taxes can be paid before the May 3, 2021 deadline. You can mail payments to the Treasurer’s Office (150 Concord, Room 111, Framingham, MA 01702) or call City Hall Systems at (508) 381-5455 to pay over the phone. Real Estate and Personal Property tax bill payments may also be made online.
