    Framingham State Men’s Soccer Captures 2011 MASCAC Tournament Championship

    Framingham, MA – Framingham State University Freshman Bryan DaSilva was selected the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player as the top seeded FSU Men’s Soccer team defeated second seed Salem State 2-0 this afternoon in the finals of the 2011 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, (MASCAC), Men’s Soccer Championship at Maple Street Field.

    With the win, Framingham State improves to 8-8-3 on the year and the Rams receive the MASCAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships. Pairings and seeding for the NCAA Division III Championships will be announced on Monday. The Rams have made back-to-back appearances in the Tournament Championship game against Salem State and avenged last season’s 3-0 loss in the Tournament Final.

    FSU Football Takes Bogan Division in 14-7 Win over Coast Guard

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Framingham State University Sophomore running back Melikke Van Alstyne carried 39 times for 180 yards and two touchdowns as the FSU Rams football team clinched its first ever New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division title with a 14-7 win over Coast Guard on a bitter cold, windy and rainy day at Maple Street Field.

    With the win, Framingham improves to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the Bogan Division, while Coast Guard dropped its fifth game this season by seven points or less as they are now 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the division.

    With his 180 yards in the game, Van Alstyne established a new FSU single season rushing mark as he now has 1,399 yards on the season which surpasses (more…)

    The Framingham State University HRAC, (Human Rights Action Committee), is inviting anyone interested in hearing about and discussing the “Occupy” demonstrations which started with Occupy Wall Street, spread to Occupy Boston — and have since resulted in occupations in hundreds of other locations in the US and abroad.

    Delays due to traffic and detours around some of the work sites can add to driving times, so motorists should plan accordingly.

    The Town of Framingham’s Department of Public Works / Highway Division / Capital Projects website offers residents and visitors to Framingham helpful information about current and upcoming construction projects.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Freshman Isabela DeSouza of Framingham tallied a pair of goals and picked up two assists as the Framingham State University women’s soccer team defeated conference leader Fitchburg State 5-4 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women’s soccer action at Maple Street Field.

    With the win, the Rams improve to 8-6-1 on the year and 3-2-1 in the MASCAC, while the loss is the second straight MASCAC loss for the Falcons who are now 4-2 in the conference and 10-3-2 overall.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Framingham State University football team stopped Westfield State on 4th down with 28 seconds remaining to hold off the Owls and pick up a 27-24 victory this afternoon in New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division action at Maple Street Field.

    With the win, the Rams improve to 6-2 on the season and remain undefeated in the division at 5-0. The loss drops the Owls to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the Bogan Division.

    Sophomore quarterback Dino Mancinelli (Madison, Conn.) completed 19 of 35 passes for 274 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while senior wide receiver James McCarthy (Newton, Mass.) made seven catches for 185 yards and two scores.     Framingham State Freshman Forward Isabela DeSouza hat trick leads FSU Women’s Soccer to 4-2 win over Clark University.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Freshman forward Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) notched her first collegiate hat trick in a four minute span during the game’s final 5:24 to lift the Framingham State University women’s soccer team to a 4-2 come from behind victory today over Clark University in non-conference action at Maple Street Field.

    With the win, the Rams even their season record at 4-4, while the Cougars fall to 2-6-1.

    Clark had an opportunity to score first just over two minutes into the game as senior Sara Conway (Lynn, Mass.) sent the ball through to Hannah Moriarty (Millbury, Mass.).  Moriarty scored what appeared to be the game’s first goal, but the goal was waved off on an offsides call. The first of 11 offsides that Clark was called for in the game.

    Clark had several other opportunities to take the game’s first lead including a header from Conway that hit the crossbar and bounced in front of the net, but FSU goalkeeper McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, Mass.) was able to control before it bounced into the net.

    With 13:39 remaining in the first half, the Rams were able to break the 0-0 tie.  Freshman Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) fired a long shot on net, that Clark goalie Audrey Eisemann (Worcester, Mass.) deflected away, but sophomore Marissa D’Angelo (Whitman, Mass.) was (more…)

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Framingham State University defense stopped the Bridgewater State University Bears on a fourth down with 1:29 remaining in the game to preserve a 28-20 victory in New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division action in Framingham on Homecoming and Family Weekend.

    With the win the Rams even their record at 2-2 on the year and 1-0 in the division, while the Bears suffer their first loss and are 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Bogan Division.

    The Rams jumped out to a 21-0 first half lead on a pair of touchdown passes from freshman quarterback Matt Silva (Dracut, Mass.) to senior wide out James McCarthy (Newton, Mass.). The first Silva to McCarthy connection – a 6-yard strike – came with 4:03 remaining in (more…)
