    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University Rams football team tallied 31 straight points erasing a 14-0 deficit and opening a commanding lead en route to a 31-20 victory over the St. John Fisher University Cardinals in a non-conference tilt at Bowditch Field.

    The Cardinals opened a 14-0 lead with a pair of first quarter touchdowns. Aaron Chase connected with Gabe Maloni for 30-yard touchdown pass with 5:51 to go in the first and Malachi Duvall broke free for a 75-yard touchdown run just two minutes later.

    Stop & Shop Donates $100k to Framingham State University Dietitian Program

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Stop & Shop grocery store company is furthering its commitment to support racial equality with a new partnership focused on fostering diversity in the field of nutrition and dietetics.

    On September 15, 2021, Stop & Shop President Gordon Reid presented $100,000 to Framingham State University (FSU) to establish the “Stop & Shop Scholarship for Diversity in the Field of Food & Nutrition,” an endowed fund that will provide financial assistance to FSU students studying to become registered dietitians.

    FSU RAMs Football Loses 2021 Season Opener 31-0

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — After a year away from the gridiron, the Framingham State University RAMs football team opened the 2021 season with a 31-0 loss to number 15 ranked N.Y. State University of Brockport Golden Eagles in non-conference action at Bowditch Field.

    The Rams fumbled on the opening play of the game giving Brockport the ball on the 32-yard line. Five plays later Cheshire and Cromer connected for a 16 yard score and a 7-0 lead with 12:20 on the clock after earning the extra point after touchdown.

    U.S. Mint Issues Christa McAuliffe Commemorative Silver Dollar

    FRAMINGHAM, MA and PHILADELPHIA, PA – The United States Mint has begun taking orders for a 2021 Silver Dollar to commemorate Christa McAuliffe, who grew up in the and went on the become the First Teacher in Space and was tragically killed in the 1986 NASA Challenger Space Shuttle explosion.

    Christa McAuliffe, who was born Sharon Christa Corrigan, but known as “Christa” since childhood, grew up off Water Street and graduated from Framingham’s Marian High School in 1966. She went on to earn her bachelors degree at Framingham State College, studying American History and Education, then earned her Masters Degree in Education from Bowie State College.

    FSU Rams Softball Soars Past Fitchburg State 8-7 and 12-4

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University softball team belted a combined 22 hits including a pair of home runs as the Rams swept Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Maple Street Field. The Rams walked off with an 8-7 victory in the opener before soaring to a 12-4 six inning victory in game two.

    In the opener, the Rams grabbed the early lead on a two run home run to left center off the bat of Kirsten Dick.
    The Falcons plated four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-2 advantage. Morgan Cormier launched a solo homer to left and the Falcons proceeded to load the bases with no outs. Molly Grass followed with an RBI fielder’s choice and an infield single and error allowed the final two runs to score.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University baseball team rallied for a 6-5 come from behind victory over Brandeis University in game one before erupting for five runs in the fourth inning to complete the sweep with an 8-3 victory in game two of a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, MA.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University baseball team rallied for a 5-0 victory in game two of a doubleheader with the Westfield State Owls to earn the split after falling 6-3 in the opener at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, MA.

    In the opener, the Owls grabbed a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Casey Boudreau in the top of the third.  The Rams grabbed a 3-1 lead with three in the bottom of the fourth. Mike Ryan plated a run with a single to left and Matt Shaver and Bobby Higgins reached on infield singles scoring a run apiece.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – After losing the entire 2020 season, the Framingham State University softball team returned to the field this afternoon and used the long ball to defeat Emmanuel 7-1 in the opener and rallied from a two run deficit to finish the sweep of a non-conference doubleheader with a 3-2 victory over the Saints at Maple Street Field.

    Framingham, MA- The Framingham State University volleyball team compiled a .240 attack percentage as the Rams defeated Mount Holyoke College 3-0 this evening in non-conference action at the Athletic Center.

    THE BASICS:

    • Score: Framingham State 3, Mount Holyoke 0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-19)
    • Records: Framingham State (11-7), Mount Holyoke (6-8)
    • Location: Athletic Center – Framingham, Mass.

    INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

    • The Rams took a 9-3 lead in the opening set before the Lyons came back to pull within one at 10-9.  The Rams pushed the lead back to 18-13 before taking the first set 25-22.
    • After falling behind 3-0, the Rams rattled off a 10-0 run to take a seven point lead in the second frame.  The Lyons closed the gap, but the Rams pulled away again to lead 18-10 before taking the set 25-15.
    • Mount Holyoke jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the third set. The Rams came back and took the lead 14-13 on a kill from sophomore Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, Mass.).  The Rams scored seven straight to take a 20-13 edge before closing the frame and securing the three set victory.
    • Freshman Brandee Thomas (North Kingstown, RI) paced the Rams on the attack with a match-high 11 kills on 33 attempts to go along with tow digs.  Rodriguez finished the match with 10 kills on 17 attempts with just to errors and added a dig and a block.
    • Senior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 29 set assists and six digs, while freshman Alyssa Cafarelli (Peoria, AZ) led the defensive effort with a match-best 12 defensive digs.
    • The Lyons were led by a team-high 10 kills, nine digs and three service aces from senior Sarah Caggiano.  Freshman Sarah Bishop added seven kills, an ace and two digs.
    • The Lyons back row was led by a team-high 11 defensive digs from senior Isabell Linde, while sophomore Brayden Walden added 20 set assists and seven digs.

    UP NEXT:

    FSU Rams Volleyball is back in action Thursday night when they host Suffolk University at 7 p.m., while the Lyons host Western New England on Friday night at 6 p.m.

    Framingham State Men’s Basketball 67-64 Victory over Worcester State

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Framingham State University men’s basketball team received a double double from sophomore Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, MA) and held off a second half comeback by the Worcester State University Lancers to secure a 67-64 victory in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at the Athletic Center.

    With the win, the Rams improve to 5-19 on the year and are now 2-9 in the conference, while the Lancers fall to 15-6 overall and move to 7-4 in the MASCAC.

    Alexandre paced the Rams with a team-high 20 points on 9-of-17 from the floor to go along with a game-best 14 boards.  Senior Joe McCabe (Canton, MA), who connected on 4-of-6 from behind the arc, finished with (more…)
