  • Fountain Street Studios Presents Second Fridays Art Walk Strolls

    Framingham, MA – Fountain Street Studios, 59 Fountain Street, Framingham, announces Art Walk Strolls on second Fridays: September, October, November, December, 2009, from 6 – 9 pm. This Fall collaboration begins with an opening reception on Friday, September 11, from 6 – 9pm.

    Fountain Street Studios is a thriving artists’ community located in the historic Bancroft Building in South Framingham, MA. With over 60 working artists, Fountain Street Studios is diverse and inclusive, and enjoys an excellent rapport with the surrounding community, including other artist groups, as well as both public and private supporters of the arts. A multitude of visual styles and media exist within the group of resident artists whose innate goal is to make art that inspires, excites, breaks boundaries and fosters the creativity in all.

    The strolls feature 16 Resident Artists: Jodie Apeseche, Painting, Mixed Meda; Cheryl Clinton, Painting; Becky Kisabeth Gibbs, Abstract Painting; Bob Grignaffini, Oil Painting; Carol O’Malia, Oil Painting; Joan Sprachman, Painting; Roy Perkinson, Oil, Watercolor;Sorin Bica, Contemporary Painting, Drawing; Priscilla Claus, Painting, Printmaking;Lynne Damianos, Photography; Karen Jacobs, Contemporary Landscapes; Margie Sisitskey, Painting, Pottery; Gesa Lehnert, Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media; Benedito Megidesh, Fine Furniture Design; Will Kerr, Painting; Paul Riedl, Painting, Furniture Restoration and Design.

    Fountain Street Studios artists are thrilled to open their doors for these monthly strolls. This is a special opportunity to see new and exciting works by many artists in their own creative spaces. The stroll is a fun and casual way to see a wide range of contemporary artworks in a relaxed setting. Fountain Street Studios is handicapped accessible except to wheelchairs, as the freight elevator can only be reached by descending two stairs. The strolls are free and open to the public with plenty of free parking available.

  • Framingham History Center Wins $100,000 Grant

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Annie Murphy, Executive Director of the Framingham History Center announced that she received word of a a $100,000 grant from American Express to restore the Edgell Memorial Library’s windows.

    Nearly 2.5 million people voted in the Partners In Preservation competition. The Edgell Library won 70f the vote, placing 4th out of 25, with in an estimated 175,000 votes. This is remarkable given our “dark horse” status among so many notable Boston institutions, including the Paul Revere house and the Aquarium.

    The Framingham History Center is hosting the exhibition “Windows on Edgell’s Past, Present, and Future” amd will be open Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, June 17th from 5 to 8 p.m.

  • Concerts on the Green Schedule for July 2009

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The schedule for the July Concerts on the Green has been released by Jim Egan, Director of Town Building Services.

    July 3, 2009 – Dianne Shea and the Suburbanaires (Big band) Happy Fourth !!!!!

    July 10, 2009 – Nobscot (local band that opened for Chicago)

    July 17, 2009 – Tailspin (this band plays all our favorites and gets better every year)

    July 24, 2009 – Sgt. Dan Clark (A memorable evening is in store for everyone there that night)

    July 31, 2009 – Help!! (This sixty’s mop head cover band drew over two thousand people last year, come early.)

    Concerts are 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the Framingham Centre Common.

    Bring chairs and blankets.

    This year the framingham.com table will be collecting donations for the Concerts for August and next year’s series. framingham.com will be there with balloons and giveaways except for the July 3rd concert. Volunteers welcome to help man the table.

    Donations still needed and welcome!

    framingham.com is also raising money for the concerts by giving the proceeds of any Business Directory listings from now until August 31st to the concert fund.

    Proceeds from any business that signs up for a one- year Business Directory listing web page ($ 75) now through August 31st. will be donated to the Concerts on the Green fund. (When the business mentions the Concerts.)

    The businesses who sign up will receive a Free car wash voucher from either The Clean Machine on Rt. 9 or Suburban Shell on Old Conn Path.

    Also 30% of any paid ad contract now through July 31st will be donated when the advertiser mentions the concerts.

  • The Concerts on the Green are a Go in July

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — According to Jim Egan, Town Building Services; he is putting the final touches on a concert schedule during the month of July for The Concerts on the Green series annually held on the Centre Common on Edgell Road

    Enough donations, following discussions and a call for donations at Town Meeting, on framingham.com, and email lists such as framcom, have come in to fund a July series.

  • Framingham High Drama Company selected to represent the US at 2010 International Festival in Scotland

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Board of Advisors of the American High School Theatre Festival (AHSTF) has selected the Framingham High School Drama Company to perform in the world’s largest and most prestigious arts festival. The Board reviews applications and identifies top high schools based on their most recent bodies of work, awards, community involvement, philosophies, and recommendations.

  • Wheel of Fortune Auditions This Weekend in Marlboro

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Now’s your chance to spin the wheel and buy a vowel. The Wheel of Fortune Wheelmobile and TV38 will be at Solomon Pond Mall on the lower level next to Sears. The Solomon Pond Mall located at 601 Donald Lynch Blvd. in Marlborough.
