FRAMINGHAM, MA – Can a single word describe Framingham or it’s residents? Perhaps one… “diverse“.
Acceptance and public service are recurring themes in Framingham history, from the persecuted refugees of Salem End, to the recent influx of immigrants from South America, a better life is the objective of most who settle in Framingham.
Framingham in 1996 is a multi-cultural community, and in an effort to expose “us” and especially our children to the diversity around town, a week of Prejudice Awareness celebrating Our Human Mosaic, Unity and Diversity, and a Salute to Youth once again shows Framingham’s commitment to acceptance and public service.
The artwork of Framingham Public School students included on this page should give you insight into the ideals, spirit, and collective attitude which the were the objects of the week long event.
To completely cover the events, people, and achievements ofthe week would take a dozen web pages, (which we regret we can’t publish at this time), so we will only hope that the week’s message carries for years to come.
The week’s events were sponsored by: Town of Framingham Human Relations Commission SHIFT (Stop Hate in Framingham Today) Framingham Interfaith Council Framingham Public Schools
