FRAMINGHAM, MA — U.S. House of Representatives Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark announced the Massachusetts 5th Congressional District is hosting the district-wide 2021 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for middle school and high school students.
The CAC is designed to encourage students to learn to code and to inspire them to pursue careers in computer science. Since the Challenge’s inception in 2016 over 14,000 students from 48 states programmed and submitted an app!
Middle and high school students who live in or attend school in the district at the time of app submission are eligible to register. Students can register as an individual or in teams of up to four students, (half or more of team must be eligible in district team participates in).
Students can use any programming language to code their app, (e.g. – Php, Perl, C, C++, JavaScript, Python, etc.) and design the app to run on any platform, (mobile, PC, web, tablet, etc.). Students are encouraged to use their imagination and build a district-specific original app.
For students interested in learning to code, the CAC has teamed up with UpBrainery Technologies which will provide CAC participants with (15) hours of free online educational resources including step-by-step instructions on how to successfully build a web or mobile app.
The deadline for students to register and submit their app is Monday, November 1st, 2021. Judging will take place throughout the month of November with winners announced in December.
