FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham History Center, formerly the Framingham Historical Society and Museum is having an open house on Saturday May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd, 2009. Below are details of the activities:
SATURDAY MAY 2nd —
YARD SALE: 9:00 am-1:00 pm in front of Edgell Memorial Library. We have a lot of fantastic items that are coming in from many of our members…Don’t miss this sale!
FAMILY DAY ON THE COMMON: In Front of the Village Hall. We start at 1:00 pm. Bring your children and or grandchildren to play old fashioned games like rounders, graces, hoops, and more on the Centre Common. Visit with Civil War reenactors. Tour all of the Framingham History Center buildings for: a new treasure hunt in the Academy building, hands-on activities for all ages in the Village Hall, an exhibition “Windows on Edgell’s Past, Present and Future” and a children’s exhibition “Collecting” in the Edgell Memorial Library. Don’t miss Children’s Storytelling with Libby Franck at 2:20 and 3:20 in the Edgell Library. Refreshments…Free to the public.
SUNDAY MAY 3rd —
EXHIBITION: 12:00-4:00 Windows on Edgell’s Past, Present & Future. Edgell Memorial LIbrary. See why this building has been and will continue to be such an important gathering place for our community.
MEET THE AUTHORS: 2:00-3:00 Jim Parr and Kevin A. Swope as they discuss and sign copies of their new book Framingham Legends and Lore. Edgell Memorial Library
A TRIBUTE TO ROGER HEINEN and Celebration of a Beautiful New Roof Over our Heads: 3:00-4:00 A free wine and cheese reception honoring Roger’s many years of work on behalf of Framingham’s history and a celebration of the completion of the roof allowing the return of the 13th Massachusetts Regiment’s flag to the Edgell Memorial Library. Roger spearheaded the restoration of this flag and town treasure.
