FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Learning Center for the Deaf (TLC) is proud to announce that actress Linda Bove from Sesame Street and co-founder of DeafWest Theatre will visit TLC’s Parent-Infant Program and preschool classrooms at at its Framingham campus on Tuesday, April 7.
Bove will be honored at TLC’s 10th annual “Spring on the Charles” Gala to benefit TLC’s early childhood center program at the Boston Newton Marriott. For many people, Linda was their first encounter with a Deaf person. In her role on Sesame Street for thirty years, Bove helped break down barriers between the Deaf and hearing worlds. Her award-winning career began on stage with the National Theatre for the Deaf and includes television and film. She is a founding member of the Tony Award-winning Deaf West Theatre and author of two sign language books.
Other honorees recognized at the gala include Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Benjamin Soukup, founder and chief executive officer of CSD (Communication Service for the Deaf, Inc.), a national, nonprofit organization serving deaf and hard of hearing individuals and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Gallaudet University.
