    FSU Rams Softball Sweeps MASCAC Doubleheader with Fitchburg State

    The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double to right from Gwendolyn Carpenter.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University softball team received a pair of victories from Ally Moran as the Rams swept a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader with Fitchburg State at Maple Street Field in Framingham. The Rams took the opener 8-1 before coming from behind for a 3-2 victory in game two.

    In the opener, Moran went six innings allowing one unearned run on one hit with six strikeouts. Emily Strzegowski tossed an inning of scoreless relief to close the game for the Rams.

    The Rams extended the lead to 6-0 with five in the bottom of the third. Mercedes Jimenez plated a run with a sacrifice fly and a second run scored on the play on an error. Zoe Smyth followed with a two-run single to right and Morgan Poli added an RBI single.

    FSU Rams Softball Soars Past Fitchburg State 8-7 and 12-4

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham State University softball team belted a combined 22 hits including a pair of home runs as the Rams swept Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Maple Street Field. The Rams walked off with an 8-7 victory in the opener before soaring to a 12-4 six inning victory in game two.

    In the opener, the Rams grabbed the early lead on a two run home run to left center off the bat of Kirsten Dick.
    The Falcons plated four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-2 advantage. Morgan Cormier launched a solo homer to left and the Falcons proceeded to load the bases with no outs. Molly Grass followed with an RBI fielder’s choice and an infield single and error allowed the final two runs to score.
