    FRAMINGHAM, MA – At a Board of Selectmen Meeting on Tuesday November 8, 2011, Framingham Department of Public Works Director Peter Sellers asked Selectmen to postpone any plan to auction off the Nobscot Union Chapel which was recently taken by the town due to unpaid water bills.

    Sellers presented a plan to round off the corner of Edgell Road and Water Street where the Nobscot Chapel is located.

    Sellers reported that rounding out the final corner of the busy intersection would improve visibility, safety and traffic flow, and noted that the three other corners that make up Nobscot’s main intersection have been rounded in the same manner he’s proposing.

    Nomination papers for those planning to run for Town Offices in 2011 were available from the Town Clerk on November 29, 2010.  To be nominated, candidates for Town Offices needed to return the nomination papers with  the valid signatures of  fifty registered Framingham voters.  (These dates and requirements were for “Town Offices” only, not for Town Meeting Member candidates).

  • Danny O’Connor Boxing Match Cancelled

    Danny O’Connor Boxing Match Cancelled

    Homecoming boxing match canceled.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – A boxing exhibition featuring Framingham native champion boxer Danny O’Connor has been canceled. Citing difficulties in obtaining the necessary permits to hold the match in Nevins Hall, the bout has been rescheduled to Nov. 20th and moved to the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.

    O’Connor who grew up in Saxonville and wrestled at Framingham High has already racked up an impressive professional boxing record.  Among other titles he was a 2008 National Golden Gloves Champion, 2008 US Future Stars National Champion, and a 2008 Alternate US Olympic Boxing Team member.  O’Connor is undefeated in his professional boxing career.

    According to a press release from Warriors Boxing promoter Leon Margules the match featuring O’Connor which was billed as “The Homecoming“, was canceled due to what he describes as [Framingham’s] “bizarre bureaucracy“.

  • Planning Board Accepting Associate Member Applications

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Planning Board and Board of Selectmen are accepting letters of interest and qualifications from residents who would like to be considered for appointment as the Planning Board’s Associate Member. The term for this appointment is from the date of the appointment until July 1, 2010. This is a volunteer position.

    The Associate Member of the Planning Board serves in cases where the Planning Board acts as the Special Permit Granting Authority under the Framingham Zoning By-Law. These Public Hearings are generally held twice per month in the evening from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 10 p.m.

    The Chairperson of the Planning Board may require such Associate Member to be in attendance at special permit hearings, and may designate such Associate Member to sit on the Board for the purpose of acting on a special permit application in the case of absence, inability to act, or conflict of interest, on the part of any member of the Planning Board, or in the event of a vacancy on the Board.

    Desirable qualifications include, but are not limited to, an understanding, awareness and/or experience with the Framingham Zoning By-Law and the variety of development proposals that come before the Framingham Planning Board as well as insight into the land use issues that are of concern to town residents.

  • Town Election Results (2005)

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Dennis Giombetti was the top vote getter in the Selectmen’s race on Tuesday, April 5th. He and John Stasik will replace outgoing Esther Hopkins and Chris Ross. Ann Wells won the Planning Board race and A.J. Mulvey and Mike Rossi won the Keefe Tech slots.
