    FRAMINGHAM, MA – There’s still time to enter two photo contests that are taking place in Framingham. The photos for one contest must be shot in the greater Saxonville area, and the other requires the photo be taken at the “Garden in the Woods” botanical garden located in the Nobscot area of town.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Once again, Robinson’s Hardware and the merchants of the Pinefield Shopping Center in Saxonville are hosting and a family fun (and dog friendly) event for a good cause.

    On Saturday June 18, 2011 from 10:00AM ’til 2:00PM,the shopping center merchants are raising money in support of the Massachusetts Vest-a-Dog organization which raises money to purchase bullet proof vests for K-9 officers (more…)

  • Special Town Meeting Called for January

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The town of Framingham will hold a Special Town Meeting, Wednesday January 12, 2011 for the purpose of voting on the following (4) Articles:

    Article #1 asks Town Meeting to vote to allow the transfer of handicap parking receipts to the Disability Commission. The article is sponsored by Town’s Chief Financial Officer, (CFO).

    Article #2 asks Town Meeting to vote to appropriate $1,020,000 for window and door replacement at the Mary E. Stapelton School.  According the the materials provided, the Town would pay $431,562 and  would obtain the $588,438 balance needed in a grant from MSBA for the balance. This article was sponsored by School Committee.

    Article #3 asks Town Meeting to approve a preliminary design for a new McAuliffe Library. This article is related to the next, Article #4,  which asks Town Meeting to authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire 5 parcels of land next to and behind Nobscot Shopping Center on Water Street for a new library at a cost of $739,800. These two articles, (#3 and #4), are sponsored by the Framingham Library Trustees.

    The Special Town Meeting will commence at 7:30PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2010 in Nevins Hall.

    Prior to the Special Town Meeting, at  7:15PM the Town Clerk will hold precinct meetings to fill vacancies.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Be sure to make your way down to Saxonville on December 4, 2010 from 11:00am – 4:00pm for the 6th Annual “Jingle Bell Days“.

    For the past five years, Jeff Underwood of Robinson’s Hardware has pulled together the other merchants at Pinefield Shopping Plaza, (along with a few 2-legged and 4-legged special guests) for “Jingle Bell Days”.

    This year Toys for Tots are being collected for the Marine Corps., Please Bring a Toy to Donate!

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – If you head down to Pinefield Shopping Center this week you might find a camel or kangaroo in your usual parking spot.

    Once again, Records & Burpee Traveling Zoo will be set up in the parking lot directly across from the McAullife Branch Library June 9 – 13, 2010 from 11:00am until approximately 9:00pm.

    The kids petting zoo, camel rides, pony rides, moonwalk rides and carnival foods concessions, (cotton candy, carmel apples, fried dough and more), are always a popular end of the school year treat for families with young kids.

  • Luau at the Lake – September 12, 2009

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Friends of Saxonville invite the greater Framingham Community to the 10th annual Discover Saxonville event. Each year The Friends focus on a feature of Saxonville that makes Saxonville special and unique. This year we highlight Lake Cochituate at Saxonville Beach with a “Luau at the Lake” on Saturday September 12th from 3PM to 6:30 PM.

    The beach is located on Lake Road, just off Old Connecticut Path, in Saxonville with plenty of parking.

    The event begins at 3:00PM with refreshments, games, fun contests and prizes. The Luau starts at 4:30PM with a mix of Polynesian and Southern Barbeque cuisine provided by Firefly’s Bodacious BBQ and the Three Gorges restaurants plus a colorful and festive dessert by Culinary Artworks.

    Live music from the George Ede Trio (of Liberty Music fame) offers a delightfully unique Hawaiian-Country sound.

    Discovering Saxonville with a Luau-at-the-Lake is a fun finish to the summer for the entire family. And all of that for $15 per person, kids 12 and under, free.

    FRAMINGHAM,MA — Bid farewell to summer with your Saxonville friends and neighbors. The Friends of Saxonville invite you to Snackin’ in Saxonville, a family event at on Saturday afternoon, September 20th, (Rain Date Sun, Sept 21) from 3 – 6 p.m. at the corner of Concord and School Streets in Saxonville. (the former State Lumber property)

    Drop in for a sampling of tasty treats from local eateries, purchase unique Saxonville merchandise, see a mini-exhibit and antique firetruck (with music!), take part in children’s activities and raffle, and reconnect with friends and neighbors following summer break! Treats include donations from: Georgio’s, Makari’s,Gerards, Liberty Pizza, Panera, Breyers, Subs and More, and Legal Seafood and Robinsons Ace Hardware.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Please join the Friends of Saxonville for the Tenth Anniversary Celebration on Friday, April 4th at 7 p.m. at Edwards Church Hall, next to the church, 39 Edwards Street, off Elm Street in Saxonville village.

    Come and enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres, conversation, and the history of Edwards Church. Celebrate the Friends accomplishments and plans for the future.

    This is also the Annual Meeting of the membership. Every year there is at least one member from out of state who attends to support the group. Members are encouraged to volunteer for our Board of Directors! New members are always welcome!

  • Street Smarts Talk about Saxonville Roads

    Framingham Historical Society & Museum series continues

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Come explore Saxonville Village and learn how its streets were named with Cynthia Buscone on Sunday, Sept. 17th, from 3-5 p.m. at the Edgell Memorial Library, corner of Edgell Road and Oak St.

    This talk is another in the “Street Smarts” series presented by the Framingham Historical Society and Museum.

    Refreshments following the program. Some older street signs will be available for purchase at the FHSM museum shop in the Edgell Library.
