    FRAMINGHAM, MA — A new free outdoor program, the Community Corner, will offer field games, books, reading corner, arts and crafts, music and more for families on five different days during the summer in a variety of public parks.

    Beginning on July 8 and ending August 26, this two-hour, drop-in program is organized by the Framingham Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Framingham Police Department, Framingham Fire Department, the Library Bookmobile, and the MetroWest YMCA.

    Directions: The “Village Green”, (also known as the “Framingham Centre Common”), is located just north of Rt. 9 on Edgell Road. From Rt.9 (East or West), take the Framingham State College / Main St., Framingham Centre exit and proceed north on Edgell Rd. – Village Green is located approximately 1/10 mile from exit. From Sudbury, (Rt. 20), take Edgell Road exit (near Friendly’s) and follow south to Framingham Centre. From Downtown Framingham, take Union Ave. / Main Street heading north, cross Rt. 9 and continue approximately 1/10 mile.

    Parking: FREE parking is available on-street and off-street, (in church parking lots which surround the Village Green). Please park only where instructed by signs or traffic officers.

    Please watch for pedestrians in and around concert and parking areas.

    Arrive early for best parking.

    NOTICE: Most of the activities, special programs and events listed below require signing up or advance reservation, (unless otherwise noted). Please do so in advance so activities can be scheduled effectively and in the appropriate space.

    Town of Framingham & Callahan Center Snowstorm Policy Notice – If the schools close due to snowstorms or other inclement weather days, there will be no activities at the Center. On these days, the Town of Framingham Staff will be available to you at the Center, unless the Town of Framingham declares an emergency closing.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Between the towns of Natick, Wayland and Framingham, MA, Lake Cochituate offer many recreational summer activities including swimming, boating and fishing.

    Many locals may not realize that just a few hundred yards east of the Framingham/Natick town line, (on Rt. 30), the beach, picnic area, boat launch, snack bar and canoe/kayak rental shop are in Cochituate State Park, (which is operated by the MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation).

    Below is a list of fun, educational FREE summer activities for kids and families available at the park during the month of August 2011, (Tuesdays-Saturdays).

    1st Annual Cochituate State Park Fishing Derby, August 27th, 2011 (for kids 14 and under).

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The MA Dept. of Conservation & Recreation and the MassWildlife Angler Education Program is sponsoring the “1st Annual Cochituate State Park Fishing Derby“, Saturday, August 27th, 2011 from 8:00a.m. ’til 11:00a.m.

    The derby is open to children ages 14 and under and will be held at the Boat Ramp at Cochituate State Park on Rt. 30, (just over the Framingham/Natick town line, to the left of the park entrance).

    All children must be supervised by an adult.

    Prizes will be awarded for biggest fish, smallest fish, and most fish caught!

    Instruction will be available for inexperienced participants. A limited supply of bait and equipment will be available. Pre-registration is (more…)

    The classic cars that made Riley's in Nobscot a favorite Saturday night cruise destination has re-opened as CJ's Northside Grill.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – For nearly a decade, every Saturday night when the weather was nice, antique autos, high performance hot-rods and vintage vehicles cruised to Framingham to meet with other car enthusiasts at a restaurant in the Nobscot section of town.

    The restaurant, formerly operated by Joe Breed as “Riley’s Roast Beef” is now CJ’s Northside Grille — brought back to life by Framingham natives Chris Gagen and Jamie Anderson.

    Chris and Jamie are both Framingham North High class of 1989 graduates and both worked at Riley’s when Joe owned the place

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Within the The Town of Framingham there are three public beaches that are maintained and staffed by the Park & Recreation Department.

    For the 2011 Season the beaches will be open Thursday, June 23rd and remain open through August 18th, 2011. All three beaches are open from 10:00 a.m. ’til 7:00 p.m. daily, (7 days a week).

    Day passes are available at the beaches. Fees are $3 for residents or $6 for non-residents. If you do not have proper identification, you will be charged the non-resident fee.

    Seasonal passes are available for $15/yr per resident, ($30/non-resident). Family rates for up to (6) members* who are directly related and reside at the same address are available for $40/yr per resident family or $70/yr per non-resident family are (more…)
