Crowd Taps into Jack’s Abby Beer at BBC

FRAMINGHAM, MA– Sporting the traditional brew-master’s lederhosen, at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2011, the Hendler brothers, Jack, Eric and Sam, of Jack’s Abby Brewing, LLC, a new Framingham, MA brewery, arrive at the British Beer Company on Rt. 9.

Jack’s wife, other family members, friends and a bar packed locals were already inside — there to wish the brothers well — to taste the first commercially available kegs of the brewery’s beer — and to be part of the launch of a new Framingham business.

Jack’s Abby Brewing, which is located at 81 Morton St. in Downtown Framingham was founded in January of 2011. A short seven months later, the company has geared up production and distribution and has already signed up several local pubs to carry its first two beers; “Saxon Sons Pilsner” and (more…)

National Weather Service (NOAA) issues Excessive Heat Watch – Town of Framingham announces cooling locations, July 21, 2011.

FRAMINGHAM, MA– The National Weather Service,(of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – “NOAA”), has issued an “Excessive Heat Watch” for the Middlesex County and the greater Framingham area which, in-part, advised:

“…A PROLONGED PERIOD OF EXCESSIVE HEAT ARRIVES TODAY….HOT WEATHER ALONG WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY ARRIVES TODAY AND CONTINUES INTO SATURDAY. THE HEAT WAVE WILL LIKELY BREAK SUNDAY……HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING……EXCESSIVE HEAT MAY LEAD TO HEAT ILLNESSES FOR CHILDREN…THE ELDERLY AND THOSE PERFORMING STRENUOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES DURING THE HEAT OF THE DAY.“

In response, the Town of Framingham has sent our news alerts about “Cooling Locations” where anyone who needs to “seek shelter/relief from the unusual heat and humidity” may go.

Alumni Association Announces Framingham State 2011-2012 Scholarships

FRAMINGHAM, MA– The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni, (“IAFSA”), a self-governing, non-profit organization established in 1874 which receives and administers funds that provide scholarships and interest-free loans to FSU students, has announced its list of 2011-2012 scholarship winners.

Scholarships, (and loan funding), are made possible by donations, bequests, and rental of the Alumni House.

Scholarships ranged from $500 to $2500.

Verena Lutz and Mariya Dzhyoyeva were the only Framingham residents among the 2011-2012 recipients. Both received a “Dorothy Larned Scholarship” award. The scholarship, which encourages the sharing of international cultures was (more…)
