FRAMINGHAM, MA – State Rep. Tom Sannicandro, (D-MA 7th Middlesex District), who represents constituents in Framingham and Ashland, met with supporters this morning before a hearing on House Bill No. H159.
The legislation if approved will amend Massachusetts General Law, (MGL Ch. 71, Sec. 38G) to define a special “Transitional Services” teacher license.
Those teachers would be trained to assist and guide the successful transition of students with disabilities to activities after graduating high school including; furthering (more…)
A new website has been put up with Framingham School Department budget info, and links to an online petition to "Save Our Schools".
FRAMINGHAM, MA – Herb Chasan, Framingham Precinct 4 Town Meeting Member, (and local home improvement contractor), is sending out an S.O.S— a “Save Our Schools” message.
In September, Chasan, registered a domain name and put together a website, www.FraminghamSaveOurSchools.org which provides info about recent school budget cuts and prompts visitors to sign and online petition.
The site contains materials listing what the past four years of reduced funding and the latest $6 million dollars in cuts have done to Framingham schools.
While newspapers and talk on the street decry elimination of elementary school music, or cuts in school bus transportation — many don’t realize the number of education and support positions (and programs) that were also cut back or eliminated.
The website is linked to the online service www.ePetitions.com to allow residents to sign the online petition, which in-part asks Framingham Board of Selectmen to act according to, “..our desire for level service funding of future school budgets and search for sources of additional revenue and cost savings to support this goal.”

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Paulini Loam LLC continues its quest for a permit to build a concrete plant at 597 Old Connecticut Path. Although meeting opposition from abutters, the Town permitting officials, and Town Meeting since 2005, Paulini is pursuing permission through the courts and through the ZBA.
The proposed plant would be located behind Suburban Shell Service Station and adjacent to Cochituate Brook Reservation, the Cochituate Rail Trail, Reardon Park, and the Oaks Neighborhood. Neighbors feel that not only will the plant negatively impact the area, but also add to the already heavy traffic along Old Connecticut Path.
The next ZBA hearing about a special permit is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9, at 8:30 p.m. in the Blumer Room in the Memorial Building.
Residents interested in voicing their opinions are urged to attend the meeting and to sign an online petition. The petition already has more than 375 signatures.
