    Danny O’Connor Boxing Match Cancelled

    Framingham boxing match cancelled.
    Homecoming boxing match canceled.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – A boxing exhibition featuring Framingham native champion boxer Danny O’Connor has been canceled. Citing difficulties in obtaining the necessary permits to hold the match in Nevins Hall, the bout has been rescheduled to Nov. 20th and moved to the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.

    O’Connor who grew up in Saxonville and wrestled at Framingham High has already racked up an impressive professional boxing record.  Among other titles he was a 2008 National Golden Gloves Champion, 2008 US Future Stars National Champion, and a 2008 Alternate US Olympic Boxing Team member.  O’Connor is undefeated in his professional boxing career.

    According to a press release from Warriors Boxing promoter Leon Margules the match featuring O’Connor which was billed as “The Homecoming“, was canceled due to what he describes as [Framingham’s] “bizarre bureaucracy“.

  • Town Assessors Explain Assessment Calculations

    Board of Selectmen request this presentation for property owners

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Based on a request from the Board of Selectmen, officials from the Assessor’s Office will give a presentation about how assessments are calculated for commercial and residential properties on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 7 p.m. in Nevins Hall. The public is welcome to attend this event and will be allowed to ask questions about the assessing and abatement process.

    Nevins Hall was selected as the site for the public hearing since it has a seating capacity of about 1,500 so that a large crowd can be comfortably accommodated. Residents and business owners can take advantage of this opportunity to attend on a proactive basis. The economy could decline further, which could cause more concern about a possible disparity between assessments and market values next year.

    Attend and be educated about how your home or business property is assessed.

  • Free Homebuyer Fair at Nevins Hall

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – A free Homebuyer Fair will be held Monday, May 22nd, 2006 6:30-8:30 PM, Nevins Hall, in the Memorial Building, 150 Concord St, Framingham.

    The Framingham Fair Housing Committee, in conjunction with the Metrowest Daily News, is inviting all interested prospective homebuyers to a free informational event presenting information that will walk you through home-buying basics. Area resource businesses and services will be on hand to assist you with questions, and help you begin or continue the process of preparing for a home purchase. One-on-one consultations are available.

    There will be basic information for first time homebuyers, links to additional resources, and information in Spanish and Portuguese. Resources will include: Banks, Credit Unions, Realtors, Home Inspection Services, Moving Companies, Pest Control Services, Legal Advice, and Public Financing. Considering buying a house and need help or advice? They’ll give you information that will help you get started, and get you into your own place.

  • Concord Violinist to Perform at MWICA

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – MetroWest International Concerts Association will hold its 2nd of four concerts on Sunday November 20, at 4:00 pm at Nevins Hall in downtown Framingham. Stephen Shey, a native of Concord has performed in the Philippines, Sweden, and the US. He was the sole performing artist at the WWII memorial Dedication of the Philippine Pillar. While a student at Lexington Christian Academy Stephen initiated and performed in a fundraising concert to benefit the Academy held at the Museum of Our National Heritage in Lexington.

    Tickets for this concert are $20. at the door. Students accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.
