    Massachusetts grown… and fresher!

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Pick up some fresh fruit, veggies and other farm fresh local produce on the Pike!

    Starting this weekend commuters traveling the MassPike, (I-90), will be able to purchase farm fresh fruits, vegetables and other products grown or made locally in Massachusetts at the Framingham MassPike Service Plaza from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

    The plaza is located westbound on I-90 between exits 12 and 13.

    Items for sale may included anything from farm fresh strawberries to baked goods, cheeses, jams and jellies, maple syrup, honey, eggs, flowers and more.  (The vendors are permitted to sell anything that does not compete with items sold in the service plaza restaurants and store).

  • Deer Ticks in Framingham

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – With warmer weather finally arriving, local doctors and emergency room staff are seeing an increase in deer tick bites, and anxious parents worried about the bacteria they carry which cause Lyme Disease.

    Doctors at Framingham Pediatrics report treating children with deer tick bites every week last season, and this year should be no different.

    Deer Ticks are common throughout all of Massachusetts and can be active from April through October and are most active in June, July and August. Adults deer ticks can be active any time of the year when temperatures rise above freezing.

    The deer tick, or “blacklegged tick”, (Ixodes scapularis), bites and feeds on blood at all stages of its 2-year life cycle. Adult females have a (more…)

  • Downtown Framingham Traffic About to Get a Little Worse

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Long recognized as one of the worst things about Downtown Framingham, traffic along the Rt. 126 corridor through the Rt. 135 intersection and rail crossing is about to get even worse — temporarily.

    Construction is slated to begin June 23, 2011 to replace the Fountain St. bridge which some motorists use as an alternate route to avoid the traffic choked Downtown central district.

    MassDOT and its contractor estimate the project will take 97 days and, baring any unforeseen circumstances, the projected bridge re-opening date is set for September 27th, (2011).
