FRAMINGHAM, MA — The winners for the third of five drawings for the Massachusetts VaxMillions Giveaway has been announced. The winner of this week’s $1 million prize is Leo Costinos of Attleboro. Leo is a controller at a financial firm. He got vaccinated to protect himself, his family and his community. Leo plans to use his winnings to support his children’s college plans.
The winner of this week’s $300,000 college scholarship is Lilla Eliet of Reading. Lilla is entering the 8th grade at Coolidge Middle School in Reading this fall where she is a member of the Coolidge Science Olympiad team. Lilla is already thinking about where she might attend college and is interested in science and technology. She hopes to have a career in the field of medicine. Lilla received the vaccine as soon as she was eligible in order to protect herself and others.
Cannabis / Marijuana products sold in Massachusetts will be labeled with a seal certifying it has passed testing for contaminants.
FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, (“CCC”), has voted in favor of issuing MCR Labs of Framingham its license to operate as an Independent Testing Laboratory (“ITL”) for the state’s Adult Use Marijuana Program.
While some have complained that the State has been to slow to roll out recreational marijuana sales, the CCC regulations were designed with consumer safety in mind and specify that all retail cannabis product must be tested for and free of contaminants in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, (M.G.L. c. 94G).
MCR Labs is accredited to perform compliance testing “and has been inspected to meet all general operation and security requirements for marijuana establishments” as outlined in the Commission’s draft regulations, but there’s still a few steps that must be completed before full commercial operation of the lab, (a walk-through and “seed-to-sale” software training).
MCR is setup to perform safety screening of marijuana including testing for heavy metals (arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury), dozens of pesticides, microbial contaminants, (bacteria, yeast, molds, salmonella, E. coli, etc) as well as testing for volatile organic compounds, residual solvents, terpenes and other chemicals which should not be found in cannabis sold for human consumption. MCR Labs will also provide cannabis potency and quality profile testing.
Once the few final steps are completed, Massachusetts marijuana growers, cannabis product manufacturers, and others will be able to have their products tested for quality control and potential contaminants at MCR Labs, 85 Speen St. in Framingham, MA.

FRAMINGHAM, MA – “Framingham State University” is now the official name of the school which has sat atop Bare Hill since 1853.
The school was originally founded in 1839 as a state-funded “Normal School” to standardize, (or “normalize“), the training of teachers in America.
The Normal School was first located in Lexington and then Newton, MA and after outgrowing both locations moved to Framingham where it has flourished and grown for more than a century and a half.
An act which became effective October 26, 2010 changes M.G.L. Ch. 15A, Sec. 5, and creates sub-sections of the law which in addition to renaming (6) colleges, breaks the state’s system of higher education into three segments;

MetroWest Growth Management Committee, The 495/MetroWest Partnership and representatives from The Highway Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will hold an informational meeting regarding the upcoming Rte 9 resurfacing project on Thursday, April 1, at 7:00PM in Framingham Town Hall.
According to MassDOT, the Route 9 resurfacing project in Natick and Framingham has been awarded, a contract signed and a Notice To Proceed issued.
On Thursday April 1 at 7 pm at the Framingham Town Hall, MassDOT representatives will be presenting an update on the Route 9 Resurfacing Project from Walnut Street in Natick to the Framingham/Southborough Town Line.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform town officials, abutters, interested citizens and regional employers about the logistics of the upcoming construction project. Items to be discussed include construction schedule, temporary impacts, and communication procedures. It should be noted that the majority of construction will be on a night-time schedule, typically from 9:00PM to 5:30AM.

FRAMINGHAM, MA – MA Dept. of Transportation’s (MassDOT) Highway Division is holding a forum for businesses that may be impacted by the planned Route 9 Resurfacing Project from the Southborough/Framingham town line to Maine Avenue in Natick.
MassDOT would like to provide the affected businesses with specific background on the project in order to address their anticipated questions on traffic and access to their properties. The forum is taking place on Thursday, December 17th from 8:30 10:30 AM, in meeting space being provided by the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center, 1657 Worcester Road in Framingham.
Given the impacts of this project on both Framingham and Natick, if you know of businesses that will be affected, please let them know about the forum.
