  • Nobscot Gallery in Annie’s Book Stop Features Student Art

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Nobscot Gallery, bookstore and coffee shop in Nobscot Plaza on Water St. hosts an exhibit of Hemenway students’ artwork beginning on June 8th, 2008.

    The Hemenway School Parent’s & Children’s Art Exhibition is organized by parents Patty Hebert and Brenda Dostie. The exhibition will celebrate and share the talents of the Hemenway community of parents and students. Exhibits are expected to include paintings, pottery, photography, quilting and jewelry.

    Local writer and parent Patty Hebert commented: “I have always enjoyed the monthly exhibits at the Nobscot Gallery, and this one will be particularly delightful as it showcases the art of our school community.

    A grand opening reception will be held on Sunday, June 8th, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Nobscot gallery in Annie’s Book Stop. The reception will also feature music and other performance art from children whose talents are more active than static!

    The reception will be a fund raiser, and grilled food has been generously donated by Wanda’s Food and Catering. All proceeds will be donated to the Hemenway School PTO art program.

    Organiser Brenda Dostie commented: “We just want to celebrate the joy and enthusiasm of our children expressed through art. Events like this are important in bringing together our community.”

  • Framingham Farmers Markets Opening Soon

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Framingham Farmer’s Markets are opening on June 12 and 14, 2008. The Thursday market returns to the Framingham Centre Common (aka Village Green) on Thursday, June 12. Hours are 12:30 – 5:30 p.m.. The market will run through October 30th.

    The southside market returns to St. Tarcisius’ parking lot on Waverley St. (Rt. 135) on Saturday June 14th. This market runs on Wednesdays from 3 – 6 p.m. and Saturdays’ from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This market will run through October 25th.

  • Call for Volunteers for Framingham Emergency Reserve Corps

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Volunteers are needed to develop, practice and deploy aid in an emergency response to a town-wide event.

    The Framingham Emergency Reserve Corps (FERC) is a group of volunteers who assist the town in its emergency planning and help protect the health of the community. Members are local residents of different ages and abilities. No medical back-ground is necessary!

    In the event of disasters, either natural or man-made, FERC volunteers supplement trained emergency personnel, thereby providing a boost in public health resources.FERC members:

    Receive FREE emergency trainings.

    Staff town flu clinics.

    Provide emergency preparedness education to the public.

    Interested in Joining? Please come to a meeting on June 12, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the Memorial Building in Nevins Hall.
