    FRAMINGHAM, MA — As part of its commitment to advancing clean technologies and exploring innovative ways to help the commonwealth achieve its aggressive decarbonization goals, Eversource today broke ground on a first-of-its-kind utility-scale networked geothermal system in Framingham, Massachusetts.

    The energy company’s geothermal pilot program highlights the collaboration necessary between utilities, state and local government, environmental advocate partners like HEET, and other stakeholders to combat climate change and achieve decarbonization and electrification goals.

  • Framingham Man Indicted on Felon in Possession of Firearms Charges

    Edwin Alago, 42, of Framingham, MA, indicted on felon in possession of a firearms, (Framingham Police booking photo from related arrest in 2022).

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The U.S. Justice Department’s Office of State Attorney, Massachusetts Division announced a Framingham man Edwin Alago, 42 was indicted on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

    Alago was previously arrested on related state charges and will appear in federal court at a later date.

    According to the indictment, in May 2021, Alago possessed a SCCY .9mm CPX-2 semi-automatic pistol bearing a defaced serial number and seven rounds of .9mm ammunition.

  • Canadian Wildfires Cause Poor Air Quality in Framingham

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is alerting people in parts of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont regarding air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups, due to elevated concentrations of fine particle air pollution due to wildfires in Quebec and Northern Ontario.

    Hazy skies, reduced visibility, and the odor of burning wood is very likely as the smoke plumes move through Framingham and the greater New England region.
