    FRAMINGHAM, MA– Roadwork on several major capital improvement projects in town will continue to wind down. Crews will be paving many of the roads that have been under construction during the past several months to prepare for the winter freeze.

    Delays due to traffic and detours around some of the work sites can add to driving times, so motorists should plan accordingly.

    The Town of Framingham’s Department of Public Works / Highway Division / Capital Projects website offers residents and visitors to Framingham helpful information about current and upcoming construction projects.

    Traffic Alert: Less Road, Sewer and Bridge Detours

    Drivers should be prepared to stop as single-lane alternating traffic patterns are in use at sewer and road construction sites along Concord St.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– As road crews working on capital construction projects in town wind down for the winter, there is less road work, less sewer construction and should be less detours and traffic delays in Framingham.

    Crews will be paving over work sites that are completed and others that will be put on hold until the spring thaw.

    The Fountain Street bridge is no longer on the list!  Work to finish that project has been completed and motorists are once again using the bridge!

    Some night work being done. The Contractor for the East Framingham Sewer Improvements Project will perform overnight milling activities in the intersection of Concord Street and Cochituate Road, Monday, November 28th through Tuesday, November 29th.

    “A” Street – Construction crews will continue to complete site restoration activities, including curbing, loaming and paving on “A” Street, restricting traffic to a one lane alternating traffic pattern while construction is underway. At the end of each work day, normal traffic flow on “A” Street will be restored. Access to side streets and Framingham High School will be maintained.

    Downtown Framingham Traffic About to Get a Little Worse

    The Fountain St. bridge is frequently used to avoid Downtown Framingham and navigate to and from the Merloni Baseball Complex, Loring Arena, Keefe Tech, Fountain Street Galleries, (and other businesses located in the former Bancroft Cap factory), and the surrounding area.     FRAMINGHAM, MA – Long recognized as one of the worst things about Downtown Framingham, traffic along the Rt. 126 corridor through the Rt. 135 intersection and rail crossing is about to get even worse — temporarily.

    Construction is slated to begin June 23, 2011 to replace the Fountain St. bridge which some motorists use as an alternate route to avoid the traffic choked Downtown central district.

    MassDOT and its contractor estimate the project will take 97 days and, baring any unforeseen circumstances, the projected bridge re-opening date is set for September 27th, (2011).
