FRAMINGHAM,MA — The Framingham School Committee has an open seat due to the resignation of one of its members.

The Committee invites Framingham residents who are interested in serving on the committee to submit a one-page letter of interest to:

This committee will be overseeing the selection of a new Superintendent of Schools, as well as coping with the challenges of these uncertain economic conditions.

Annie’s Book Stop offers Free Children’s Books as Treats

FRAMINGHAM,MA — This Halloween, treat or treater’s should stop in at Annie’s Book Stop in Nobscot Shopping Center, Water St, from 3 pm – 9 pm, Friday, October 31st for a free book as a treat.

That’s right, FREE children’s book for all trick or treaters. There could be hot, spiced cider for the adults and maybe pumpkin scones.

2008 Winter Parking Regulations Start November 1st

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Beginning on November 1, 2008 and continuing through April 1, 2009, winter parking regulations in Framingham will come into effect. During this time, parking is completely banned on the EVEN numbered side of all streets except for metered spaces, marked arterial routes, and on streets where parking is already permanently prohibited on the entire length of one side. The side of the street on which parking is banned alternates each year to ensure equity.

Violators of this regulation will be subject to ticketing and towing. Parking spaces during the day time can be purchased from the Town at the following locations and rates: 1) Hollis Court Lot – $4.00/day, 2) Pearl Street Garage – $4.00/day or $65.00/month (residents), and 3) Waverly Street Lot – $90.00/month. If you are interested in purchasing space in one of the above lots or have any questions, contact the Building Services Department at 508-532-5485. They also have a listing of area businesses that provide public parking for a fee.

In addition to the odd/even ban, parking is prohibited on posted arterial routes during a declared snow emergency. Those parked on an arterial route during a snow emergency will be subject to ticketing and immediate towing. The Boston television stations will provide information regarding the declaration of snow emergencies, as will the Town’s Government Access Channel (Comcast channel 10, RCN channel 13, Verizon channel 42), which is also available via streaming video at www.framinghamtv.com.

Also, a town-wide two hour parking limit is in effect year round. Parking on the street for over two hours is prohibited, unless otherwise posted. In addition to adhering to this two hour limit and the winter parking regulations, residents are reminded to inform any guests of these prohibitions as well. Landlords are asked to inform their tenants of these restrictions and to provide them with off-street parking. Businesses and agencies are asked to inform their clients via signage and other methods about these restrictions. The Selectmen have commissioned a parking study with the intent of exploring possible alternatives to the two-hour ban. The Selectmen expect to have this information by early in 2009.
