    "Old Glory", the flag of the United States of America.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – In June of 1886, Bernard J. Cigrand, a teacher in Waubeka, Wisconsin, who also was a frequent writer on subjects of U.S. History, patriotism and the American flag proposed the idea of a holiday to celebrate the Flag’s Birthday.

    The article appeared in a newspaper article titled “The Fourteenth of June”.

    Although the original intention of Flag Day was to celebrate the adoption of the American flag, (on June 14, 1777), it has become much more of a patriotic holiday, one on which we not only celebrate national pride for the flag, but (more…)

  • Patriotic Event in Honor of our Veterans

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — A bus trip to Bourne National Cemetery sponsored by Framingham Lodge No 1264 B.P.O ELKS is planned for Sunday May 25th, 2008.

    The schedule is as follows:

    • 10:30 AM Bus leaves ELKS parking lot, 450 Union Ave, Framingham
    • 1:00 PM Memorial Day Ceremony Maritime Band & Wreath placement
    • 4:00 PM Cook out at the Framingham Lodge

    The cost for this event is $15, which includes transportation – Deluxe Ritche Bus, box lunch and cookout.

    First come, first serve, space is limited to 52 seats.

    RSVP before May 17th by sending check to: Framingham Lodge No 1264, Box 4747, Framingham, MA 01704. Please include “Bourne trip” on the memo line.

    Cook out only is $10.

    Bus ride and cook out is open to the public, if you cannot attend, consider sponsoring a veteran.
