Framingham Fireworks! Stars & Stripes Event Friday June 30th 2023

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Growing up in Framingham in the 1960’s or 1970’s, chances are on the 4th of July you watched the fireworks over Farm Pond. In the 80’s and 90’s the fireworks were launched over migratory wetlands that used to exist between Shopper’s World and the Natick Mall. As the area became more developed, (and the wetlands destroyed), with the end of 90’s came the end of fireworks in Framingham.

Campaigning for Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky promised to “bring back Framingham fireworks“, and for the first time in more than 20 years, there will be fireworks — and for the first time in about 40 years they will be displayed over Farm Pond!

On Friday, June 30, 2023 the “Stars & Stripes over Framingham” events at Farm Pond Park begin at 3:00pm when FREE public parking lots open and will conclude with a fireworks display over Farm Pond which is scheduled to start at about 9:00pm. The fireworks display should last about 20 minutes, (display is by the same company that does the City of Boston’s July 4th Fireworks!)

I had a chance to speak with Dr. Sheri Phillips, this year’s National Spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure organization.

At the start of the interview, I said “I’ll ask some questions, and if any are too personal, or you prefer not to answer, or want me to leave anything out — let me know.”

Sheri, the Homewood, Illinois mother of two teenage daughters, and a practicing physician for the past 18 years who is now a 2-year survivor of breast cancer said, “None of it is too personal.  Information is power. It’s important to get as much information as possible out to others and raise awareness not only with those who (more…)

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Long recognized as one of the worst things about Downtown Framingham, traffic along the Rt. 126 corridor through the Rt. 135 intersection and rail crossing is about to get even worse — temporarily.

Construction is slated to begin June 23, 2011 to replace the Fountain St. bridge which some motorists use as an alternate route to avoid the traffic choked Downtown central district.

MassDOT and its contractor estimate the project will take 97 days and, baring any unforeseen circumstances, the projected bridge re-opening date is set for September 27th, (2011).
