    Summer Stuff To Do (for Bored Kids)

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – During summer vacation many parents may be hearing the all too familiar “I’m bored” from their school age progeny.

    Hey Ma! I'm bored!In these “difficult economic times” things to do that are are free or only cost a few dollars — and don’t require excessive driving can help stretch the family budget between trips to Six Flags, Canobie Lake Park or other New England area day trips.

    For activities in the list that require traveling in town — consider having kids go places on MWRTA routes.  Older kids can walk to a neighborhood bus stop, and go by themselves — relieving their parents of driving duty — and helping reduce local daytime traffic.

    Things to do in Framingham in the Summer:

    The classic cars that made Riley's in Nobscot a favorite Saturday night cruise destination has re-opened as CJ's Northside Grill.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – For nearly a decade, every Saturday night when the weather was nice, antique autos, high performance hot-rods and vintage vehicles cruised to Framingham to meet with other car enthusiasts at a restaurant in the Nobscot section of town.

    The restaurant, formerly operated by Joe Breed as “Riley’s Roast Beef” is now CJ’s Northside Grille — brought back to life by Framingham natives Chris Gagen and Jamie Anderson.

    Chris and Jamie are both Framingham North High class of 1989 graduates and both worked at Riley’s when Joe owned the place

    Ice sculptures are one of the First Night Boston crowd favorites and are display throughout the city. Larger carvings can be found in Copley near the Boston Library, and along Boston Common, the Frog Pond and other locations around the city. This massive creation was a life size Arctic Wonderland with carved Walrus, Narwhales, Polar Bears, Penguins and huge ice-bergs floating in a sea of ice in front of Boston Public Library.

  • FHS Drama Company presents The Caucasian Chalk Circle

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Framingham High School Drama Company will present their 2010 entry into the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild this Friday.

    They will be performing Bertolt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle. This forty minute cutting of the classic play is a beautiful journey of motherhood in the midst of chaos and Communism. The show features performances and design work with a cast and crew of 60 students.

    The FHS Drama Company has had great success in the competition in years past, making it to the state finals in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and receiving the title of State Champions for their production of Tales of Trickery in 2006.

    The show will take place at the FHS Theatre on Friday, February 26th. TIckets are $10 and are available online at www.ticketstage.com. All proceeds benefit the FHS Drama Company and their trip to the Edinbugh Fringe Festiva this summer.
