    Framingham Earth Day, April 27th, 2013

    FRAMINGHAM — With more than 80 displays, attractions and vendors, the Framingham Earth Day Festival is poised to deliver the green-living message to hundreds of environmentally attuned families this month.

    The festival kicks off activities at 11 a.m. on the Framingham Centre Village Green, Edgell Road, Saturday, April 27 and continues to 3 p.m. In the event of stormy weather with heavy rains, the Festival will be moved to Framingham High School. If in doubt, check the Earth Day Website the day of the event.

    With food, music, recycling, composting, kids’ activities, artisans and eco-friendly products and businesses, the third annual festival promises to be larger and more diverse than previous years.

    “We want the Festival to be a chance to join together as a community, support local businesses, learn about how we can green-up Framingham, and have fun,” said Framingham Earth Day Festival President Donna Kramer Merritt.

    Framingham Earth Day Festival, Saturday April 28th

    Earth Day graphicFRAMINGHAM, MA – The Town of Framingham will celebrate Earth Day 2012, on Saturday, April 28th. Events are scheduled throughout out the day.

    The day starts with Framingham’s 12th annual Greenup Day. From 9:00am to 12:00 noon, join friends, neighbors and other volunteers at various locations throughout Framingham to help remove trash and debris from ponds, rivers and streams, parks and roadways to improve Framingham’s environment.     From 10:00am to 12:00 noon Framingham will participate in World Tai Chi & Qi Gong Day on the Centre Common (rain or shine). Tai Chi & Qi Gong are “Chinese healing techniques and exercises have been used to treat certain conditions, stimulate the immune system and harmonize and balance the body’s energy.”  All are welcome!     From 11:00am ’til 3:00pm the 2012 Framingham Earth Day Festival will be held on the Village Green, (Framingham Centre Common).  Educational, environmental and fun events for families, kids and people of all ages including on-site recycling, sustainable living demonstrations and over 80 vendor booths showcasing green and eco friendly products, local foods and art and craft items by area artisans. There will be games, crafts, face painting, a magic show  and other activities just for kids.  Live performances by “The Elderly Brothers“,  “Something With Digby” and “Adam & Eve” will fill the Common with music for the afternoon.

    In case of Rain, the Festival will be held indoors at Framingham High School, (on “A” Street).

    Environmental groups, local artisans, displays of energy saving products along with information about recycling, composting and other displays and activities are planned.  Get ideas about how to be more green, while you enjoy live music, delicious foods and fun stuff for kids.

  • Earth Day Activities 2006

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Celebrate Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, in Framingham at the Downtown Common and at Garden in the Woods.

    From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. there is free fun for families, children and adults at the Park Street Downtown Common, at the intersection of Concord and Howard Streets. Local artist, Nancie Handy, will coordinate art activities and games. Angie Fowler, Recycling Coordinator, will provide composting demonstrations with free information about building your own compost bin. Recycle ink jet cartridges, toner cartridges and cell phones at the event! Call 508-620-4900 for more information.

    From noon until 4 p.m. visit the New England Wild Flower Society’s Garden in the Woods off Hemenway Rd. for their free Earth Day celebration. Enjoy Garden tours on the half-hour, scavenger hunts, wild flower seed plantings, Mother Earth’s juggling act at noon, conversations with Granny and Grandpa Granite.
