  • Weekend Halloween Fun in Framingham

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Halloween fun things to do this weekend!

    Cameron Middle School, 215 Elm St., presents Halloween Haven, an afternoon of fun for children in grades K-5, from 4:30-6:30 p.m on Sat. Oct. 29. Students will be taken on haunted tours, play games, and collect candy and healthy snacks. Activities include: games, haunted house, fortune telling, coloring, and more. Admission and activities are free to everyone. Canned goods will be collected at the door to be donated to a local charity.

    The Learning Center for Deaf Children, 848 Central St., hosts its first annual Galloping Ghost Charity Chase on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. It is a four mile road race with prizes in four age groups for winners and best costumes. Register for $ 25 online at www.tlcdeaf.org or call 508-879-5110 and ask for Cyra Coady. At the same time, The Learning Center will be transformed into a treasure trail hunt for costumed youngsters and their families who can’t join the race. Admission is free to the Trick or Treat Trail open to children age 12 and under.

    It’s the last weekend for Hanson’s Farm Tom & Matt’s Excellent Adventure 4 Acre Corn Maze and Haunted Farm and Hayride. Visit the maze at 20 Nixon Rd. during the day from 9 to 6 and the Haunted Farm opens at 7 p.m. Admission is charged and you can save $1 using framingham.com online coupons. You can bring a picnic lunch during the day and enjoy the farm animals and farm stand. Refreshments available during the evening haunting.

  • FHS Drama Club Presents “The Crucible”

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Next weekend, the Framingham High School Drama Company will present Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. The show opens November 3rd at Walsh Middle School and there will be performances at 7:30pm on the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Tickets can be reserved by calling 508-620-4963 ext. 1605 and will be eight dollars.

    The Crucible marks the first production of the Drama Company’s 2005-2006 season. They will follow up with Tales of Trickery, this year’s entry into the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild Festival and a spring musical that will be announced shortly.

    With over one hundred members, the Drama Company contributes a large presence to the High School and the Framingham community. In addition to staging three main-stage productions, as well as many smaller scale performances, concerts and showcases, the Drama Company focuses much of its efforts on community outreach within the other arts departments of the Framingham School system. This year the Drama Company has many students interning at the middle and elementary schools to assist with their shows and help build their programs.

    The widespread interest of the Drama Company has contributed to its growing success over the last four years. With over 80 students auditioning for The Crucible and many more involved with technical aspects, it will reflect the hard work and dedication of all involved. Director, Donna Wresinski, has stated that this is the most challenging piece she has attempted to bring to life during her time at Framingham. But with the help of her many talented actors and student set, costume, lighting and props designers, the show will prove to be worth the risk.

  • Reading Volunteer Needed

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The MetroWest Radio Reading Service at Framingham State College is looking for someone would be willing to record the Sunday supplement “Jobfind”, ( of the MetroWest Daily News), which contains articles and job openings in the MetroWest area.

    The recordings would be broadcast on The Radio Reading Service.

    It will not be necessary to read every opening of job.

    Recordings can be done at home with tapes provided by the MetroWest Radio Reading Service.

    Only one hour a week is required.
