Framingham DPW to pickup Christmas Trees weeks of January 23rd-27th, 2012.

FRAMINGHAM, MA– It’s been nearly a month since Christmas, and if you still have a Christmas tree in your home, it’s most likely very dried out — and could be a fire hazard at this point in time.

Dried out trees should be removed from your home or business and placed outdoors, away from any [cigarette] smoking areas or other possible sources of ignition until the tree can be properly disposed of.

The Town of Framingham Department of Public Works will be  collecting Christmas Trees during the week of  January 23rd through 27th, 2012. You should put your tree on the curb on your normal trash collection day.

The DPW will only pickup trees if all decorations, strands of lights, tinsel/garland, etc, have been removed — and the tree can not be in a plastic bag, (or it will not be picked up).

For additional information about Christmas Tree Curbside Collection contact the Framingham Department of  Public Works, Solid Waste Division at:  (508) 532-6001.

Framingham Traffic Alerts, Detours, Delays, sign: Be Prepared to Stop
Drivers should be prepared to stop as single-lane alternating traffic patterns are in use at sewer and road construction sites along Concord St.

FRAMINGHAM, MA– As road crews working on capital construction projects in town wind down for the winter, there is less road work, less sewer construction and should be less detours and traffic delays in Framingham.

Crews will be paving over work sites that are completed and others that will be put on hold until the spring thaw.

The Fountain Street bridge is no longer on the list!  Work to finish that project has been completed and motorists are once again using the bridge!

Some night work being done. The Contractor for the East Framingham Sewer Improvements Project will perform overnight milling activities in the intersection of Concord Street and Cochituate Road, Monday, November 28th through Tuesday, November 29th.

“A” Street – Construction crews will continue to complete site restoration activities, including curbing, loaming and paving on “A” Street, restricting traffic to a one lane alternating traffic pattern while construction is underway. At the end of each work day, normal traffic flow on “A” Street will be restored. Access to side streets and Framingham High School will be maintained.

FRAMINGHAM, MA – At a Board of Selectmen Meeting on Tuesday November 8, 2011, Framingham Department of Public Works Director Peter Sellers asked Selectmen to postpone any plan to auction off the Nobscot Union Chapel which was recently taken by the town due to unpaid water bills.

Sellers presented a plan to round off the corner of Edgell Road and Water Street where the Nobscot Chapel is located.

Sellers reported that rounding out the final corner of the busy intersection would improve visibility, safety and traffic flow, and noted that the three other corners that make up Nobscot’s main intersection have been rounded in the same manner he’s proposing.

Sellers claimed that the chapel is not a historic

Snow plow parked, but ready to clean up after Nor'easter predicted to drop two to six inches of snow on Framingham, (Saturday, October 29, 2011).
FRAMINGHAM, MA– Having snow even once in October is pretty rare for eastern Massachusetts, but for the second time in three days, snow fell on Framingham.

As predicted, precipitation moving up the U.S. eastern seaboard combined with low pressure and declining temperatures resulted in a Nor’Easter dropping approximately 3″ of wet snow in town between 5:00pm and 10:00pm today, (Saturday October 29th, 2011).

The small amount of snow which fell on Thursday, (October 27th, 2011), did not accumulate on roadways as the pavement was still warm from the day’s moderate temperatures.

Today’s snow did accumulate — enough so that snow removal equipment was called out to plow commercial parking lots and some (more…)
