    Newly hired Keefe Tech Principal Jonathan Evans

    Framingham, MA – Joseph P. Keefe Technical School Superintendent-Director James Lynch is pleased to announce that Jonathan Evans, current Director of Student Services, will succeed Patricia Canali as the school’s new Principal.

    Superintendent Lynch stated that Evans’ appointment is effective July 1, 2011. According to Lynch, “I have made this decision after a very thorough search process that included a broadly publicized posting, 14 applicants, 6 semifinalists, 4 finalists, two lengthy and probing interviews, and a detailed review of recommendations and references. I am convinced that Mr. Evans is the very best candidate for this important leadership position. I look forward to working with him as Principal and as we go forward to continue to improve our school and service our students.”

    Evans has served the Keefe Tech school community for 15 years, beginning his career as an intern in the Guidance Department in while he was earning a Master of Education in Counseling. He came aboard as a full-time Guidance Counselor in the 1997-1998 school year, and advanced to the position of Lead Counselor and then Director of Guidance and Admissions over the next ten years.     Preparation for the the Framingham Education Foundation 20th Annual Adult Team Spelling Bee is underway!

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – This coming November the Framingham Education Foundation will host its 20th Annual Adult Team Spelling Bee.

    They are currently asking for suggestions for words to add to the study list for the bee.

    Bruins Tickets Raffle to Support Framingham Boy’s Battle with Cancer

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Tramiris Anthony is a 9 year old boy from Framingham, MA. He has always been a healthy, happy and athletic child, enjoying sports, videogames and, of course, playing with his friends.

    In early April, just three months after his ninth birthday, Tramiris wasn’t feeling well — he awoke one night with severe dizziness and vomiting, symptoms which continued over the next few days.

    Doctors suspected a virus, but when his nausea persisted over the following weeks he was ordered to undergo an MRI, revealing a tumor in his cerebellum.

    Senate Adopts Spilka’s ‘Gift of Life’ Tax Deduction for Living Organ Donation

    FRAMINGHAM, MA(PRESS RELEASE) Today, the Senate adopted Senator Karen Spilka’s (D-Ashland) amendment ‘Gift of Life’ to the Senate budget, which creates an income tax deduction for citizens of Massachusetts who donate an organ, while living, to another human being.

    ‘Gift of Life’ will allow living organ donors a state income tax deduction of up to $10,000 in related expenses that include travel expenses, lodging expenses, and lost wages that are incurred by the donor and related to his or her organ donation that are not reimbursed in any way.

    Deer Ticks in Framingham

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – With warmer weather finally arriving, local doctors and emergency room staff are seeing an increase in deer tick bites, and anxious parents worried about the bacteria they carry which cause Lyme Disease.

    Doctors at Framingham Pediatrics report treating children with deer tick bites every week last season, and this year should be no different.

    Deer Ticks are common throughout all of Massachusetts and can be active from April through October and are most active in June, July and August. Adults deer ticks can be active any time of the year when temperatures rise above freezing.

    The deer tick, or “blacklegged tick”, (Ixodes scapularis), bites and feeds on blood at all stages of its 2-year life cycle. Adult females have a (more…)
