My Mother Gave Me Riches, Featuring Storyteller Libby Franck
7:00pm–Talented local storyteller Libby Franck celebrates libraries through the sharing of her mother’s life story. Libby’s mother, Elisabeth Hamilton Friermood, was a librarian, storyteller and the author of 18 historical novels for teen girls. When Elisabeth was a little girl, her mother took her to their town’s new Carnegie Library every week, and told her “a body’s never poor who lives within walking distance of the public library.” Libby weaves the back story of Elisabeth’s novels with some of her own stories, and along the way pays tribute to her mother, the importance of libraries, and the wonder of storytelling. Refreshments provided by Trader Joe’s in Framingham. Framingham Public Library, 49 Lexington Street, Costin Room.
