Class on White Privilege

The Plymouth Church in Framingham is pleased to offer “Waking Up White,” a seven-week course to equip participants in the conversation about privilege. How do we have hard conversations while holding fast to our beliefs? Can we disagree, yet still be kind in our efforts to understand? Using Debby Irving’s 2014 book, Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race, the class will examine how white Americans are socialized, how to reconsider the roots of their perspective, and their own role in dismantling old myths. The class will meet on Tuesdays, from 7:00-8:30 p.m., beginning February 21; and on Thursdays, from 2:00-3:30 p.m., beginning February 23.This class is free and open to the public. Facilitated by Rob Schadt and the Rev. Gregory Morisse, each class is limited to 15 participants, who are expected to attend all seven weeks. To sign up, contact the Plymouth Church Office at 508.875.1364.The Plymouth Church is located at 87 Edgell Road in Framingham.
