Bluegrass Gospel Project
The Bluegrass Gospel Project was formed in 2001 upon invitation from First Night Burlington (Vermont) to do a one-time concert. But the band was so well received that it remains together nearly 10 years later and has released five recordings drawn from performances throughout the Northeast. Its early repertoire focused on bluegrass gospel; songs that accentuate a message of faith and hopefulness, and feature elegant vocal harmonies. The current repertoire goes beyond gospel, to include a wider variety of styles in the Americana-folk-acoustic-bluegrass styles. Regardless of stylistic monikers, the BGP consistently delivers peerless vocal and instrumental ensemble performances of their own hybrid form of ‘spiritually sensible’ songs steeped in the Appalachian string band tradition.
