    FRAMINGHAM, MA– The Christmas tree in your home is most likely very dried out — and should be seen as a fire hazard.

    The Town of Framingham Department of Public Works will be  collecting Christmas Trees during the week of  January 14th through the 18th, 2013.

    During that week, you should put your tree on the curb on your normal trash collection day.

    If you plan to leave the tree up for the next week or so, make sure there is plenty of water in the base.  Check the water daily.

    On the other hand, if you’ve already started cleaning up, and moved the Christmas tree outdoors, you should make sure it is far away from any [cigarette] smoking areas or other possible sources of (more…)

    East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project spraying resumes in Framingham.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be spraying for mosquitoes in areas of Framingham on Wednesday, July 11th between dusk and 11:30 PM. If spraying is postponed, it will be rescheduled for Thursday, July 12th.

    Spraying is scheduled for streets in the vicinity of Summer St., Cherry St., Hardy St., Beacon St., Lockland Ave. and Prospect St. Spraying is also planned for areas near Irving St., Hollis St., Winthrop St. , Bethany Rd. and Fay Rd.

    The Project uses a spray formulation that contains the pesticide product, Anvil, to control mosquitoes. Anvil contains the pesticide, sumithrin, which is a pryethroid that is classified as slightly toxic by the EPA.

    Mosquito control applications of sumithrin do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity of sumithrin and the small amount used to control (more…)

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– It’s been nearly a month since Christmas, and if you still have a Christmas tree in your home, it’s most likely very dried out — and could be a fire hazard at this point in time.

    Dried out trees should be removed from your home or business and placed outdoors, away from any [cigarette] smoking areas or other possible sources of ignition until the tree can be properly disposed of.

    The Town of Framingham Department of Public Works will be  collecting Christmas Trees during the week of  January 23rd through 27th, 2012. You should put your tree on the curb on your normal trash collection day.

    The DPW will only pickup trees if all decorations, strands of lights, tinsel/garland, etc, have been removed — and the tree can not be in a plastic bag, (or it will not be picked up).

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– There were a total of 49 residential real estate sales in Framingham during the month of November 2011.

    Of those 49 properties, thirty one single family homes were sold at an average sale price of just over $312.5k, (average home size was approx. 1750 sqft.).

    Single family home which sold during November had been on the market for an average of just over 15 weeks.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Framingham Garden Club Inc., is a group of  “energetic doers, passionate about gardening, floral design and community service.”

    The club holds its Annual Green Sale to raise money to fund beautification work around Framingham and to fund the environmental or horticultural related grants and scholarships it awards to Framingham students and teachers.

    Each year The Framingham Garden Club awards two scholarships to high school students who wish to pursue horticultural or environmental related college studies and attend Framingham High School, Marian of Keefe Tech.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – A special curbside collection of yard waste will take place as a result of the October 29th snow storm. Brush, branches, and limbs must be neatly piled curbside by Monday, November 14th, 2011.

    The Department of Public Works will make one pass through the Town picking up those materials and will not be able to return to a residence should items not be left out on time. For this one time collection only, it will not be necessary to tie the materials up. However, please keep the area free of vehicles between the hours of 7AM and 7PM so that DPW truck mounted equipment can pick it up.

    This collection is for natural vegetation only. Food, trash, construction materials, etc., will not be collected. Bagged leaves will continue to be collected as scheduled throughout the month of November on your regular trash day.     Of those 39 properties, thirty one single family homes were sold at an average sale price of just over $296k, four condominiums sold at an average price of $111.5k, and four multi-family properties sold at an average of $252k.

    Single family home which sold during October had been on the market for an average of just over 15 weeks, while condos had taken an average of just 6 weeks to sell.

    Of the properties sold, thirty one single family homes were sold at an average selling price of just over $341k, three condominiums sold at an average price of $121.6k, and five multi-family properties sold at an average of $180k.

    On average single family homes and condominiums sold during September had been on the market for approximately three and a half months. One single family property had been on the market for over a year, (492 Elm Street, a 7-room, 3-bedroom, 1.5-bath split entry that had an asking price of $315k and sold for $296k after 381 days).  Another single-family sold in less than a week, (an 8-room, 4-bedroom, 3-bath Cape at 978 Waverly Street which had an asking price of $249.9k and sold for $245k in just 5 days).

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– There were a total of 57 residential real estate sales in Framingham during the month of July 2011.

    Of the properties sold, forty three single family homes were sold at an average sale price of just under $319k, eight condominiums sold at an average price of $112k, five multi-family properties sold at an average of $231k, and one piece of land was sold for $160k.

    Sold properties had been on the market for an average of just under three months, except for the land sale — that property, a 4/10ths of an acre parcel located at 10 Fenwick Street was only on the market for four days, had an asking price of $159,900 and sold for $160,000.

    Topping out the single family residence market, a 10-room, 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath colonial at 262 Edmands Road sold for (more…)
