    FRAMINGHAM, MA – on Sunday, October 10th, 2010, Arlo Guthrie, American folksinger, songwriter, storyteller will perform in concert as part of the Town of Framingham’s Grand Re-Opening of Bowditch Field.

    Tickets for Framingham residents are just $5.00, (and only $1.00 for kids under 12). Non-resident tickets are $10 (and $2.00 for kids under 12).

    Tickets may be purchased at the Bowditch Field office of the Framingham Park & Recreation Department, 475 Union Ave, Framingham, MA.  Tickets are also available at Amazing Things Arts Center, 160 Hollis St, Framingham MA.  Links at the bottom of this article provide additional information about the festival and how to purchase tickets online.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – the Framingham Public Library Summer Film Series will be showing Alfred Hitchcock’s 1938 comedy thriller “The Lady Vanishes” starring Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave on Thursday, July 29th at 7 p.m at the Main Library.

    The film will be introduced by Dr. Claudia Springer, Assistant Professor of Film Studies at Framingham State College. Ice Cream from Mad Willies will be served after the film.

    The Edinburgh University Film Society writes, “[the film] has all the ingenuity and unparalleled mastery of suspense that made Hitchcock’s Hollywood output so acclaimed and popular. It also however has a lightness of touch and warmth of humor that his later films lack.

    The Framingham Public Library Main Branch is located at 49 Lexington St., (just off Rt. 126 / Concord St. near Downtown Framingham).

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Town of Framingham is hosting (2) FREE outdoor concerts and a special outdoor movie screening on the Centre Common.

    Friday July 2, 2010 – 6:30-8:30pm, Concerts on the Green presents Off the Hook, a 9-piece funky rock and pop band.

    Saturday July 3, 2010, Concert & Movie! – From 6:00-8:00pm, Sound Assembly Chorus will perform “four-part a cappella singing, heavy on the harmony”. The chorus’ repertoire includes traditional American music in barbershop quartet style, as well and Disney songs and contemporary tunes from Billy Joel, John Lennon & Paul McCartney, and more.  The concert is free and open to the public.  Food concessions and rest rooms on site.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Danforth Museum of Art is pleased to once again present Harmonie Transverse on Sunday, June 6, 2010, 4:00pm. The group will perform in the Museum’s Rosenberg Gallery. Admission to the Museum is free for Museum members. Non-member admission is $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students and senior citizens and free for children under 17. All are welcome to attend.

    Harmonie Transverse was formed in 2002 by flutists who had performed with the New England Conservatory’s Metropolitan Flute Orchestra. The Harmonie Transverse This year the group has added a Contra Bass Flute to the ensemble which also includes piccolo, C Flute, G Alto Flute, and Bass Flute; this gives an excellent range for Flute Choir music.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The 2010 Town of Framingham “Concerts on the Green” summer concert series opens June 4th with the Framingham High School Band kicking off the season. The concerts, held Friday nights from 6:30pm – 8:30pm on the Framingham Centre Common feature acts performing music from all genres; country western, bluegrass, big band, gospel, techno-pop, oldies and classic rock cover bands.

    This summer’s lineup includes: The Framingham High School Band, Chad Burdick, Marshalee, Summer Street Band, Off the Hook, Sound Assembly Chorus, HELP! (Beatles cover band), The Reminisants, The Glamour Girls, The Infractions, John Penny Band, The Skinny Ties, Amy Gallatin and the Tom Nutile Orchestra.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Danforth Museum of Art is pleased to announce that Executive Director Katherine French was awarded the “She Has Impact” award at the Metrowest Chamber of Commerce Women’s Initiative Awards Dinner Tuesday night. The award recognizes French’s significant contribution in expanding the quality and reach of the Danforth Museum of Art during her five year tenure.

    Bonnie Biocchi, President and CEO of the Metrowest Chamber, noted that, under French’s direction, the Danforth has tripled its membership, increased individual donations by 27%, and expanded the operating budget 36%.

    The Museum has been recognized with several awards for curatorial excellence and was named “Outstanding Cultural Organization for 2008” by the Massachusetts Art Education Collaborative.  “Under Katherine’s leadership, the Danforth has become a premier attraction not just for Framingham but across New England,” Biocchi said. She also commended French for the development of curriculum-based learning for thousands of school children, the creation of a teen docents program, and for curating a number of award-winning exhibitions.

  • Unique Showcase for Framingham High Talent on February 12

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – There has never been a show at Framingham High School like the one coming up on Friday, February 12th at 7pm. Called F-Cubed (short for Finding Framingham’s Forte), the performance is billed as a showcase for artistic expression in three dimensions.
