FRAMINGHAM, MA – Now in its fifth year, Mass Audubon’s annual photography contest, Picture This: Your Great Outdoors, has evolved into a “must” for hundreds of photographers eager to express a love of nature through their images. And with more than 2,000 photos submitted since the contest began April 1, judging so many top-quality entries was especially challenging.
But after reviewing each photo, judges chose Arindam Ghosh of Framingham as the 2014 Grand Prize Winner for his picture of a male mallard duck, wings spread and seemingly standing on water.
A 30-year-old software engineer from Framingham, Ghosh got his championship image while observing ducks in the aptly named Waterfowl Pond at Mass Audubon’s Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield. He’s been taking pictures as a pastime for five years, but the Mass Audubon contest was the first he has ever entered.

On December 14th, 2014 from 6:00pm ’til 7:00pm Santa and Mrs. Claus will be doing a live “ON-AIR” broadcast on Access Framingham TV — and taking calls from Framingham children!
Framingham, MA – Yes it’s true; Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Access Framingham television studio on Sunday December 14th.
Tune in from 6:00-7:00pm on Sunday December 14th when Old Saint Nick will pay us a special visit on the air-LIVE. He and Mrs. Claus will be taking phone calls from all the good boys and girls in Framingham.
Do you have a special question for Santa? How do his Reindeer fly? How many toys do the elves make every year? How does Santa know who has been naughty or nice? Or just call in to wish Santa a Merry Christmas!
Mrs. Claus will be reading Twas the Night Before Christmas while grown-ups call in to sign up the kids for a call back from an AF-TV Elf and the kids can talk directly to Santa!

Nutcracker Sweet – Ballet to Benefit the Athenaeum in Saxonville, December 6, 2014.
Saxonville, MA – The Athenaeum is getting a little help from its “Friends.” The Friends of Saxonville hosts Nutcracker Sweet, a ballet performance to benefit the Athenaeum in Saxonville, presented by Mass Ballet. The production will be a ballet in the round performed by students of Mass Ballet on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 at 5:00pm.
Although the exterior of the Athenaeum has been restored, the interior is in complete disrepair. The Friends goal is to raise funds to help with construction costs, provide furnishings and accessories, and assist the town with operating expense support.
Event highlights include boxed dinner for purchase, a cash bar of fine wine and beer, a brief review of the planned restoration of The Athenaeum Community Hall, a ballet in the round featuring selected pieces from the Nutcracker Suite presented by students of Mass Ballet, and topped off with “Sweet Endings”: a delicious selection of holiday sweets and beverages.
Event venue is generously donated by Megan Powers in the Dance Studio of Mass Ballet located in the Saxonville Mill, 2 Watson Place (not handicapped accessible). The recommended dress for the event is Casual.
Event Contribution is $15.00 per person or $40.00 per family of 4.
Boxed dinner (ordered online, in advance) is $10.00 for sandwich and snack.

Framingham, MA – At Access Framingham’s Annual Meeting on Monday evening, (September 22, 2014), attendees heard about the successes of the past year, including a record number of new local productions spotlighting the community, challenges to come for Framingham public access television station and training center, and a very exciting bit of news.

President Bill Rabkin announced that Access Framingham will move to a new location near Framingham Centre Common, thanks to a new agreement with Gordon Real Estate, owners of the property at 4 Vernon Street which will house this new Community Media Center for Framingham. Design work is now underway for the new studio facility, and construction will take place in the coming weeks.
Since 2006, when Framingham Public Access Corporation was formed, the Town’s public access studio has been housed in “temporary” facilities at the rear of the Fuller Middle School.
Bill McColgan, Executive Director of Access Framingham, says the organization has greatly appreciated the partnership with the Framingham Public Schools over the years. “We look forward to more ways to collaborate in the future, but we did need to find a permanent home where a state-of-the-art studio could be created. Working with Jim and Peter Gordon, Access Framingham has now found that home.”

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Between the towns of Framingham, Wayland and Natick, MA, Lake Cochituate offer many recreational summer activities including swimming, boating and fishing.
Many locals may not realize that just a few hundred yards east of the Framingham/Natick town line, (on Rt. 30), the beach, picnic area, boat launch, snack bar and canoe rental shop are in “Cochituate State Park”, which is part of the Massachusetts State Park system and operated by the MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation.
Throughout the months of July and August, (Tuesdays-Saturdays), the park provides fun, educational, and FREE summer activities for kids and families!

Directions: The “Village Green”, (also known as the “Framingham Centre Common”), is located just north of Rt. 9 on Edgell Road. From Rt.9 (East or West), take the Framingham State College / Main St., Framingham Centre exit and proceed north on Edgell Rd. – Village Green is located approximately 1/10 mile from exit. From Sudbury, (Rt. 20), take Edgell Road exit (near Friendly’s) and follow south to Framingham Centre. From Downtown Framingham, take Union Ave. / Main Street heading north, cross Rt. 9 and continue approximately 1/10 mile.
Parking: FREE parking is available on-street and off-street, (in church parking lots which surround the Village Green). Please park only where instructed by signs or traffic officers.

Framingham, MA – Access Framingham, the nonprofit public access corporation for the Town of Framingham, is holding an Orientation Session on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 7:00pm.
Access Framingham is a membership based organization which provides training with video recording and editing equipment as well as access to our cable television channel to show locally recorded programming. Learn to be a citizen journalist, help document the many interesting events in Framingham, or volunteer your talents to help others with their productions. AF-TV’s local production studio is located in the back of the Fuller Middle School, at 31 Flagg Drive.

Framingham, MA – World YoYo Champion John Higby will presenting his YoYo Show at the Framingham Public Library on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 starting at 1:30pm.
When John was 10 years old, his Grandfather gave him a yo-yo he found in the attic, showed John a few tricks — and the rest was history!
John now holds 4 Guinness World Records and is a World YoYo Champion! He regularly per performs at “Busker Festivals” in the U.S.A., Canada, Japan and other countries, has been seen on the David Letterman show, performed many times for U.S. troops stationed in Europe and the Mid-East — he even ran a National Yo-Yo contest in Malaysia. John now performs with his wife Rebecca who at metin 2000 at a Yo-Yo event in his home town, Denver, Colorado.
Skilled precision, deft timing, swingin’ music and humor make the YoYo Guy a favorite for people of all ages as he performs old favorite yo-yo tricks and amazing new ones.
Show will be held in the Costin Room of the Framingham Public Library, 49 Lexington Street, Framingham, MA. There is no charge for admission. Refreshments will be served.

Framingham, MA – The Town of Framingham Parks & Recreation Department has published its list of 2014 SPRING & SUMMER PROGRAMS.
Registration for the popular Summer Recreation Centers, (for children Ages 5 – 13 yrs), beginsThursday, April 10th at the Academy Building in Cushing Memorial Park from 5:30-6:30pm, (then at the Parks & Recreation Office, during normal business hours, until all spots are filled).
Recreation Centers for the 2014 Summer Sessions will be located at Wilson Elementary School and Walsh Middle School. The program runs from 9:00am – 3:30pm and costs $240 per child per session, (Session I: July 7th – 18th, Session II: July 21st – Aug. 1st, Session III: Aug. 4th – 15th). Parents are responsible for transportation to an from program
