Dancers from the Nancy Kelly Dance Studio pose for a picture before the 2011 Natick 4th of July parade.
FRAMINGHAM, MA – Many residents of Framingham got up early this morning to take a short drive over the town line to Natick.
Some got up early just to make sure they had a good spot to watch Natick’s Annual 4th of July Parade — and others to get ready to be in it.
As a town, we should thank our neighbors to the east for putting together a first-class, traditional, all-American Independence Day parade — and for being unselfish enough to include Framingham performers, musicians, politicians, classic car owners, fire engines as well as parade watchers.

Count on www.framingham.com for complete Framingham, MA, 4th of July weekend events and Eastern, MA area fireworks display info!
FRAMINGHAM, MA – There have been no fireworks in Framingham since the local popular display over Farm Pond ended in the 1970’s. Back then families would pack the kids, a cooler, some chairs or a blanket into the car and head down to the Co-Op shopping center or the open spaces along Dudley Road — or if they lived Downtown, they could throw a barbecue, then sit in their own yard and watch the sky light up.
After the Farm Pond displays ended, Framingham residents would flock to see the Natick fireworks displays over the wetlands area behind Shoppers World and watch from parking lots along Speen St and Rt. 30. Once the re-development of Shoppers World and the new Natick Mall began, that too ended.
There are no fireworks displays in Framingham, Natick (or any other adjacent town), so we’ve rounded up a list of some of the July 4th (2011) holiday weekend events taking place in the greater Metrowest area, including Boston & Worcester fireworks info.

History of the Blazers Band
Founded in 1960 in conjunction with the Framingham Parks & Recreation Department, The Blazers Band was Framingham’s hometown band throughout the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s .

Founder and first musical director, Mr. Paul Bordeleau, was a teacher at Framingham’s now-defunct Lincoln Junior High School and wanted a way for Framingham kids to continue practicing and playing their band instruments after the school year ended. In 1963, when the newly constructed Framingham North High School was built, Mr. Bordeleau became the school’s first band director.
The Blazers Band was a family oriented organization — a group of Framingham ladies sewed the red and white striped blazers that band members wore, and decades of Framingham families supported the band and participated in band activities.
The organization grew to include the marching band, a color guard, jazz band, a stage band that performed “Big Band” style, and of course — The Blazeretts, a troupe of baton twirlers in matching red and (more…)
FRAMINGHAM, MA – Growing up the youngest of six children, an only girl with five older brothers, Robyn Bradley escaped into a world she created with pen and paper. She traces her ambition to become an author back to Mrs. Shea’s 4th grade class at the Charlotte Dunning School, when a writing assignment earned her praise …and three red stars.
After graduating from Framingham North High in 1991, Robyn detoured slightly from the written to the spoken word, and put in six years full time at radio station Magic 106.7, (followed by another seven years working there part-time). But she kept finding herself (more…)
FRAMINGHAM, MA – In the municipality that claims to be “The Largest Town in America“, rumblings, in the form of off-the-cuff remarks, hushed whispers and a few outright cries for reform are once again being heard in Framingham.
For those who weren’t around in the late 1990’s — or weren’t paying attention, the last Charter Commission was established, heard from, and its findings quietly tucked away along with the rest of the efforts to reform Framingham’s government from its historical Town Meeting form into a City, with a Mayor and City Council.
The commission’s Majority Report from 1996-1997 began with the following statement- (more…)
