FRAMINGHAM, MA – Back to school also means it’s time for many kids to start various fall sports.

Parents, student athletes, coaches and others involved in Framingham sports may be overwhelmed if they have to organize sports schedules — especially if they have to coordinate between two or more sports — or for more than one person or team’s schedule.

Of course, the best source of info is from the organization which runs the particular sports program.

Most print a schedule that they hand out at the beginning of a season — but (more…)

Patrons at CJ's Northside Grille take in some of the hot rods that show up most Saturday afternoons for the Classic Car Cruise-in.

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Bob Bradway probably never imagined that nearly 60 years after he opened the “Nobscot Drive-In” that many of the same types of cars would still be cruisin’ to the same parking lot on Saturday afternoons.

Never heard of the Nobscot Drive-In? Don’t feel left out, it hasn’t been called that for five decades — most locals remember it as Riley’s Roast Beef, or McCarthy’s or Leon’s or Lobster in the Red — or most recently as CJ’s Northside Grille — same place, different era.

This weekend, in addition to the Classic Car Cruise-in, the owners of CJ’s opened up the parking lot to the Framingham High School Flyers Cheerleaders who (more…)

3 OF A KIND band featured at Concert on the Green, Framingham, MA, August 12, 2011

FRAMINGHAM, MA– In a summer of Friday nights marked by rain or the threat of it, the weather was perfect for the final “Concert on the Green” for the 2011 season.

Local band “3 OF A KIND“, (from Natick), featuring Ron Taddeo (lead guitar), Richie Wood (bass) and Jim McGee (drums) eased their way through sets of mostly classic rock from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s with a healthy dose of 50’s oldies in the mix.

Throughout the night Wood and Taddeo switched off playing lead while McGee, part showman and 100% drummer provided percussive fills that are as much a part of the band’s sound as any guitar riff or lyric could be.

The night’s show was the last one organized by Jim Egan, (more…)

If Framingham is truly the #3 Geek-dom in the USA, there should be a good market for these! Order all you need online at: www.pocketprotectors.com

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Forbes.com has published an article titled, “Geekville, USA: America’s 20 Geekiest Cities“, and people all over town are patting themselves on the back for our new claim to fame as the #3 “Geekiest City” (town) in the USA.

Scott O’Connell of the MetroWest Daily News re-reported the findings in an article titled, “Framingham ranked third ‘geekiest’ U.S. city in Forbes survey“.

For his article, O’Connell interviewed three people who he must have thought were “Framingham geek experts” — Gary Sinewitz, (President, PC Healthstop), Brian Tilzer, (VP of eCommerce & Business Development, Staples Inc.), and Alison Steinfeld, (Director, Economic & Community Development Department, Town of Framingham).

I’ve known Gary since high school — he’s a geek. (But come on Gary, did you really mention “Prime Computer” and “General Motors” — they both shuttered their operations in Framingham 20 years ago — you need to get out more often).

Brian, I don’t know — but his job title makes it sound like he knows some geeky stuff.

Alison, was unsurprisingly surprised at Framingham’s new found (more…)
