    Sewer main installation near Framingham Center Common is part of 2-year project to update sewer system and prevent waste from overflowing into the Sudbury River which runs behind Auburn St. and continues north-east along Central St.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– Roadwork on several major capital improvement projects in town will continue this week, (Monday through Friday, August 8t through August 12th, 2011).

    Delays due to traffic and detours around some of the work sites can add to driving times, so motorists should plan accordingly.

    The Town of Framingham’s Department of Public Works / Highway Division / Capital Projects website offers residents and visitors to Framingham helpful information about current and upcoming construction projects.

    You can view up to date traffic alerts, maps of project work sites and traffic detours, and sign up to receive email alerts for all or any of the currently listed projects.

    Sealtest Factory Selling Off Equipment

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Most people who have lived in Framingham for more than 30 or 40 years refer to the ice cream production facility on Old Connecticut Path, (across from the top of Speen Street), simply as “Sealtest” — even though it hasn’t produced Sealtest ice-cream for many years.

    In-fact, no ice-cream at all has been made at the Framingham plant since April 31, 2011. That’s when Unilever, the multi-national consumer product manufacturing conglomerate which owns the Sealtest, Breyer’s and Good Humor ice-cream brands finally shut down the factory.

    It wasn’t a sudden closing, for a couple years Unilever had been warning the last 200 or so employees they would be shifting production to other facilities where utilities, taxes and wages would cost the company less.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – With no final vote having taken place, and no actual legislation enacted, some camps are claiming victory, some decrying losses and most just knocking the process of raising the nation’s debt ceiling so the country can continue to pay its bills.

Justin McCarthy Center at Framingham State University, 100 State Street, Framingham, MA.

    Rep. Sannicandro will moderate a four person panel featuring Senator Jamie Eldridge, the chief sponsor of single payer legislation in the Massachusetts legislature; Ben Day, the executive director of Mass-Care, a single payer advocacy organization; Dr. Gerald Friedman, a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst; and Alex Robbins, a small business owner.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– The National Weather Service,(of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – “NOAA”), has issued an “Excessive Heat Watch” for the Middlesex County and the greater Framingham area which, in-part, advised:

    …A PROLONGED PERIOD OF EXCESSIVE HEAT ARRIVES TODAY….HOT WEATHER ALONG WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY ARRIVES TODAY AND CONTINUES INTO SATURDAY. THE HEAT WAVE WILL LIKELY BREAK SUNDAY……HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING……EXCESSIVE HEAT MAY LEAD TO HEAT ILLNESSES FOR CHILDREN…THE ELDERLY AND THOSE PERFORMING STRENUOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES DURING THE HEAT OF THE DAY.

    In response, the Town of Framingham has sent our news alerts about “Cooling Locations” where anyone who needs to “seek shelter/relief from the unusual heat and humidity” may go.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Between the towns of Framingham, Wayland and Natick, MA, Lake Cochituate offer many recreational summer activities including swimming, boating and fishing.

    Many locals may not realize that just a few hundred yards east of the Framingham/Natick town line, (on Rt. 30), the beach, picnic area, boat launch, snack bar and canoe rental shop are in “Cochituate State Park”, which is part of the Massachusetts State Park system and operated by the MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation.

    Throughout the months of July and August, (Tuesdays-Saturdays), the park provides fun, educational, and FREE summer activities for kids and families!
