    FRAMINGHAM, MA – On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 12:00 Noon until 8:00pm, the Town of Framingham Recycling Center is holding a *Free! Electronics Recycle Event.

    Framingham residents can drop off “anything with a power cord or a power button“, (tv sets, computers, kitchen appliances, home entertainment equipment, computers, monitors, vacuum cleaners — if it has a power cord or power button, they’ll take it!)

    Residents do not have to have a recycle center sticker for this event, but will be asked to produce a drivers license showing they are a Framingham resident.

    *As this is being promoted as a “free” event, the Recycling Center will waive the normal $10 permit fee for residents who (more…)

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– Roadwork in town continues this week, (Monday through Friday, June 25th – June 29th, 2012).

    Delays due to traffic and detours around some of the work sites can add to driving times, so motorists should plan accordingly.

    The Town of Framingham’s Department of Public Works / Highway Division / Capital Projects website offers residents and visitors to Framingham helpful information about current and upcoming construction projects.

    You can view up to date traffic alerts, maps of project work sites and traffic detours, and sign up to receive email alerts for all or any of the currently listed projects.

    The email traffic alert for the week of June 25th – June 29th, 2012 indicates that:

    Registration Open for Video Production Summer Camp

    AF-TV is the public access television station in Framingham, MA.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Access Framingham, (AF-TV), the local public access television station is now accepting registrations for a new 2012 Summer Video Production Camp.

    AF-TV will offer a new Video Production Camp to young people ages 10-12. The camp session will run daily from 9:00am to 12:00 noon daily starting Monday, August 13th, 2012 through Friday, August 17, 2012.

    Campers will work together to develop and produce an original program. Every child will have a hands-on experience with studio cameras, microphones, control room switcher, graphics and audio.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – This weekend, May 4th – May 6th, 2012, the Framingham History Center will roll back the calendar to the 1860’s as Civil War reenactors setup camp on the Village Green, (Framingham Centre Common) as part of Framingham’s ongoing celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War.

    Union and Confederate troops will pitch their tents, along with sutlers, (food and provision sellers). There will be artillery demonstrations, a blacksmith forge and period actors including a review of troops by then President Abraham Lincoln, presentations by Julia Ward Howe, (prominent American abolitionist, social activist, poet and author of “The Battle of the Republic”),  and (more…)

    Earth Day graphicFRAMINGHAM, MA – The Town of Framingham will celebrate Earth Day 2012, on Saturday, April 28th. Events are scheduled throughout out the day.

    The day starts with Framingham’s 12th annual Greenup Day. From 9:00am to 12:00 noon, join friends, neighbors and other volunteers at various locations throughout Framingham to help remove trash and debris from ponds, rivers and streams, parks and roadways to improve Framingham’s environment.     From 10:00am to 12:00 noon Framingham will participate in World Tai Chi & Qi Gong Day on the Centre Common (rain or shine). Tai Chi & Qi Gong are “Chinese healing techniques and exercises have been used to treat certain conditions, stimulate the immune system and harmonize and balance the body’s energy.”  All are welcome!     From 11:00am ’til 3:00pm the 2012 Framingham Earth Day Festival will be held on the Village Green, (Framingham Centre Common).  Educational, environmental and fun events for families, kids and people of all ages including on-site recycling, sustainable living demonstrations and over 80 vendor booths showcasing green and eco friendly products, local foods and art and craft items by area artisans. There will be games, crafts, face painting, a magic show  and other activities just for kids.  Live performances by “The Elderly Brothers“,  “Something With Digby” and “Adam & Eve” will fill the Common with music for the afternoon.

    In case of Rain, the Festival will be held indoors at Framingham High School, (on “A” Street).

    Access Framingham (AF-TV) to partner with Talking Information Network (TIC), award winning reading service for the visually impaired.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA– Access Framingham, the nonprofit public access corporation for the Town of Framingham, has embarked on a new partnership with the Talking Information Center (TIC), an award-winning radio reading service for the blind and visually impaired.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The 116th running of the Boston Marathon will take place on Patriot’s Day — Monday, April 16, 2012.

    To accommodate the 25,000+ participants, start times will be staggered into three waves following the disabled and elite marathoners who will begin to leave Hopkinton starting at 9:00am.

    The schedule below lists the various divisions and starting times:

    • 9:00 a.m. – Mobility Impaired Start
    • 9:17 a.m. – Push-rim Wheelchair Division Start
    • 9:22 a.m. – Handcycle Participants Start
    • 9:32 a.m. – Elite Women’s Start
    • 10:00 a.m. – Elite Men’s and Wave One Start
    • 10:20 a.m. – Wave Two Start
    • 10:40 a.m. – Wave Three Start

    Runners will pass through Framingham headed east from the Ashland town line to the Natick town line on Rt. 135, (Waverly Street in Framingham).

    Waverly Street, (Rt. 135), and the roads crossing it will be closed starting at 8:30am until approximately 1:30pm. Motorists needing to get through Downtown Framingham will need to use alternate routes.  The roads will remain barricaded and closed to vehicular traffic until the majority of runners pass through Framingham.  There is no parking on Waverly Street on the night before the race.
