    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Park & Recreation Department invites all to the Framingham Centre Common for the FREE Friday Night Summer Concert series.

    Bring a blanket or chairs, a picnic dinner or snacks and enjoy the sounds of summer.

    Musical performances are scheduled for 6:00pm ’til 8:00pm — but come early to park, then find a good spot to spread out your blanket, setup your chairs and mingle with friends and neighbors!

    FRAMINGHAM, MATrulieve, one of the five Framingham cannabis dispensaries located on Worcester Road, (Route 9), has announced it will be closing up shop on June 30th, 2023.

    In a June 1, 2023 press release to investors Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (CSE:TRUL / OTCQX:TCNNF) a Florida based publicly traded cannabis company announced “additional measures to preserve cash and improve financial performance” then went on to list Trulieve store closings in Framingham, Northampton and Worcester, MA as well as some California and Nevada retail and wholesale markets they were exiting.

    Framingham Area Home Prices Rise Faster Than National Average

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – According to a Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price Index (FHFA HPI®) report U.S. house prices rose 4.3 percent in the year between the first quarter of 2022 and 2023 Q1.

    While U.S. home prices are still rising, the increase from 2022 Q1 to 2023 Q1 were nowhere near the jump seen in the previous year (2021 Q1 to 2022 Q1) which at 18.8% was the highest gain in the previous ten years.

    Ameresco wins 2023 SEAL Environmental Initiatives Award

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Ameresco, Inc., (NYSE: AMRC), a Framingham, MA based cleantech integrator specializing in energy efficiency and renewable energy, has been named a winner of the Environmental Initiatives Award by the SEAL Business Sustainability Awards for the second year in a row for establishing United States Southeast’s largest floating solar plant in a collaborative partnership with Duke Energy at Fort Bragg.

    Last year, Ameresco received SEAL’s 2022 Business Sustainability Award for its work at John Paul II Catholic Secondary School, which is Canada’s first carbon neutral school.

    As a winner of the Environmental Initiatives Award, Ameresco was honored for the implementation of the United States Southeast’s largest floating solar plant and Ameresco’s first-ever floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system installation.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The Memorial Day weekend and recent hot temperatures brought swimmers to the shores of local beaches, unfortunately for those wanting to swim in Framingham’s Waushakum Pond the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH) has issued a PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY for the body of water.

    On May 30th, 2023, the Framingham Park & Recreation Department notified the public (via social media) that the body of water is UNSAFE FOR PEOPLE AND PETS!

    Framingham Council on Aging Holds 3rd Annual Senior Heroes Awards

    Framingham Council on Aging 3rd Annual Senior Heroes Award recipients Norma Shulman, William Rabkin, Margaret Kelley and Peggy Holland.

    FRAMINGHAM, MAPeggy Holland has been answering suicide hotline calls since 1986.

    A decade ago, she became one of the first volunteers for Framingham-based Call2Talk.

    This month, she was one of four senior citizens honored by the Framingham Council on Aging at the 3rd Annual Senior Heroes Awards. Holland was honored for her efforts in health/healthcare. Other recipients included Margaret Kelley, William Rabkin, and Norma Shulman.

    More than 75 individuals attended the ceremony at the Callahan Center on Thursday afternoon, May 25.
    In 2020, Framingham Council on Aging member Glenda Thomas came up with the idea to recognize “seniors who promote diversity and inclusion.”

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham Public Schools is proud to share that Rebecca Maynard, Science Teacher and Environmental Awareness Club Co-Advisor at Framingham High School, has been awarded a Project Kindle Fellowship from Earthwatch.

    In an effort to continue to raise awareness for environmental issues, Ms. Maynard will be traveling to Costa Rica in July to complete field research on pollinators, which are animals who provide essential ecosystem services and play a crucial role in the production of many fruits and vegetables. Due to climate change, pesticide use, and habitat loss, pollinator communities are becoming more and more threatened each year.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The City of Framingham, MA has released information that the contract for school buses (with or without drivers) for a three-year period from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026 are being put out to bid following the threat of a strike by drivers (and monitors) from Teamsters Local 170 of Worcester, MA against NRT Bus, the company which currently holds the contract to provide school transportation services in Framingham.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Department of Public Works is holding an open house with a touch-a-truck event on Saturday, May 20th, 2023.

    The free public event is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 100 Western Avenue. Attendees can get up close and personal with the DPW vehicles that keep our city running smoothly.

    There will be painting and coloring, sandbox activities, games, and demonstrations during the open house. There will also be light refreshments and snacks, as well as giveaways.
