The City of Framingham Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Division have collaborated to create a socially distant scavenger hunt to help locate their lost Toy Soldiers and Snow People.

    After a long quarantine nap, the Toy Soldiers and Snow People have come out of hibernation and are wandering around the City. We need your help finding them, to make sure they are ready to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year!

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – In the days before GPS, people asking for directions to Framingham from the east or west would be told to “take the Pike and get off at Exit 12 or Exit 13” depending where in Framingham they were going.

    “The Pike” as locals call it, also known as the MassPike, (shortened from “Massachusetts Turnpike”), is the portion of U.S. Interstate Highway “I-90”, a toll road that runs from the western border of Massachusetts in the town of West Stockbridge to Boston, MA the state capital.

    Along with the rest of the MassPike, (and many other highways), the exit numbers are being changed to a uniform numbering system based on mile markers.

    Plan ahead for delays and be prepared to stop as Framingham infrastructure projects are being finished before winter sets in.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The City of Framingham has released the following traffic alerts for the week of November 22nd – 28th, 2020, (note: construction schedules are weather permitting and are subject to change).

    Cedar Street – Gas Main Relay – Eversource Gas will continue installing gas service lines on Cedar Street. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.

    christmas tree, clip artFRAMINGHAM, MA – In past years a town-wide effort was made to bring people together to light the “Official” Christmas Tree in Downtown Framingham.  At past tree lightings, school children would carol on the steps of the Memorial Building, Santa might have shown up riding atop a Framingham Fire Engine, and after the tree lighting children would be welcomed into Nevins Hall for hot chocolate, cookies, candy canes and a chance to spend some time with friends, neighbors and family and maybe have a photo taken with Santa.

    Framingham Receives $475,600 for Remote Learning Enrichment Programs

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The City of Framingham has received $475,600.00 for Remote Learning Support Services through the Federal CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund and the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund.

    The purpose of the Remote Learning Support Grant program is to promote and support equitable access to affordable, safe, and supportive environments for children to engage remotely in instructional time during the school day.

    Single Head of Romain Lettuce packages from Tanimura & Antle, Salinas, CA, (logo above), having the package date 10/15/2020 or 10/16/2020 have been recalled.
    FRAMINGHAM, MA – Check your fridge!  Massachusetts is one of the states listed in a November 6th, 2020, U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) report that Tanimura & Antle Inc., <taproduce.com> a Salinas, California grower is “voluntarily recalling its packaged single head romaine lettuce under the Tanimura & Antle brand, labeled with a packed on date of 10/15/2020 or 10/16/2020, due to possible contamination with E. Coli 0157:H7.”

    Packages contain a single head of romaine lettuce with the UPC number 0-27918-20314-9.

    The packages were primarily sold at Wal-Mart.  Grower name “Tanimura & Antle” may be found on twist-tie band if lettuce (more…)

    Framingham, MA – Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer is pleased to announce that she has appointed Lester Baker, a veteran member of the Framingham Police Department, as the Department’s eighth Police Chief.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA — Did you feel mild ground shaking this morning?   Thousands of residents of Massachusetts, in areas from Cape Cod to Metrowest to the Berkshires and into Connecticut reported feeling light tremors to The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

    Drivers are alerted to BE PREPARED TO STOP as road and utility projects continue on many roads in Framingham.

    FRAMINGHAM, MA – The City of Framingham will be performing the following highway / road work and utility projects during the week of November 8th – 20th, 2020.  Expect delays or detours as described below:


    Beaver Street Bridge – punch list items. Expect minor delays at times.


    Bethany Road – Eversource Gas will continue relaying gas main and services on Bethany Road. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.


    Cedar Street – Eversource Gas will continue installing gas service lines on Cedar Street. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.


    Eames and Pratt – Eversource Gas will continue installing gas service lines on Eames and Pratt Streets. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.


    Hampden, Hillcrest, and Berskshire Roads  – water main replacement, final trench paving is schedule for Hampden, Hillcrest, and Berkshire Roads. Expect minor delays at times.


    Indian Head Road – Eversource Gas will continue relaying gas main and services on Indian Head Road. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.


    Nobscot Intersection – improvements: utility poles will be set, and electrical wires will continue to be transferred in preparation for the intersection improvements project. The City’s contractor will continue to prepare the site for the intersection improvements project and conduct test pits. Expect minor delays at times.


    Robertson Road – Eversource Gas will continue relaying gas services on Robertson Road. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. Expect minor delays.


    Spot Mill and Fill Paving – The Highway Division will mill and pave miscellaneous sections of roadway on Frost Street, Brook Street, and Dudley Road, Tuesday, November 10. Expect minor delays.


    Urban Street Sweeping Program  (Area B)

    • The Highway Division will street sweep Area B on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020
    • NO PARKING will be allowed from 9 AM to Noon.
    • Vehicles parked on the street will be ticketed and towed.
    • The following streets will be swept during this operation:  Avon Street, Bethany Road: #4-56, Bridges Street, Bridges Street Ext., Cedar Street, Charles Street, Claflin Street, Clifford Street, Coburn Street, Cypress Street, Hayes Street, Highland Street, Hilton Street, Mellen Street, Naples Street, Pine Street, Saucier Street, Waverly Court, and Winthrop Street.

    Worcester Road, 9/90  – a City hired contractor will conduct test pits on Gates Road, Thursday and Friday, November 12-13. Expect minor delays.
