FRAMINGHAM, MA – Framingham resident, Marilyn Manzella, Executive Director of the Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni (IAFSA), is retiring after 25 years of service.
IAFSA is a self-governing, non-profit organization established in 1874 by dedicated Framingham State alumni.
Manzella, Class of 1969, joined the staff in 1988 and became Executive Director in 2004.
IAFSA administers funds that provide scholarships for Framingham State students and benevolent assistance for alumni while maintaining the Alumni House for member and community functions. Funding is provided by donations and bequests from alumni and friends. During the 2012-2013 school year, a record 58 students received IAFSA scholarships and awards and eight students received interest-free loans.
At the 2013 Annual Meeting, IAFSA President Kelly Raymond announced that, after 25 years of service,Executive Director Manzella will retire in September. The IAFSA Executive Board appointed her assistant, Debbie Cleveland, also of Framingham, to manage the organization as its fifth Executive Director.
During the Reunion Weekend Award Luncheon, Framingham State University President Timothy Flanagan enthusiastically expressed his gratitude to IAFSA for its support as a leading donor via its scholarship program. He singled out Manzella for thanks, noting her approaching retirement and presenting her with a personalized commemorative mirror.
A retirement reception for Manzella is planned for September. IAFSA now has an opening for a part-time assistant to the director. Framingham State alumni are encouraged to apply. Information about the position is available on IAFSA’s website: AlumniHouse.org
