FRAMINGHAM, MA – FSU Junior Taylor Ezold (Westfield, MA) tallied a pair of goals and classmate Hannah Jerdee (Marlborough, MA) picked up a goal and a pair of assists to lead the Framingham State University women’s soccer team to a 9-0 victory today over Wheelock College at Maple Street Field.
With the win, the Rams even their season record at 3-3, while the Wildcats fall to 0-4 with the loss.
Sophomore midfielder Kayla Austin (Winchester, MA) scored the game-winner just under four minutes into the game as she collected a rebound at the twenty and sent a high shot on net that deflected off the Wildcat keeper for Austin’s third goal of the season. Jerdee scored unassisted after making a move on the left sideline less than two minutes later putting the Rams up by two.
The Rams would add six more in the first half including Ezold’s pair of goals and single goals from Marissa D’Angelo (Whitman, MA), Emily Biegner (Easthampton, MA), Kristi Stewart (Lunenburg, MA) and Lauren Bova (North Andover, MA) to put the game out of reach.
Freshman Christina Buonopane (Stoneham, MA) scored her first collegiate goal late in the second half to reach the final margin.
Wheelock College goalkeeper Alexandra Chiesa (Medford, MA) made 21 saves in the game, while her Rams counterpart freshman McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, MA) made two stops.
Austin and Stewart each finished the game with a goal and an assist.
The Rams return to action on Friday, September 23rd, (2011), when they host Worcester State at 4 p.m.
