Open Spirit Special Event: Sense of Place – Shaped by the River
Open Spirit located in Saxonville is hosting our annual Day of Spirit. We will use our physical location as inspiration for our keynote and workshops. The Open Spirit campus is located on the top of a hill — the second highest spot in Framingham. The hill has a rich history; geological, botanical and anthropological. Our keynote speakers will share their reflections on this place, with a particular focus on the ways it has been shaped by Sudbury River. Learn about the geological history of Saxonville and our campus, and about the wild plants and creatures associated with the river. Our keynote will also explore the history of the people who have lived here; from Native Americans who fished for salmon; to factory owners who built the dam; to factory workers who struggled to buy their homes when the factory put them up for auction. *** Following the keynote there will be opportunities for guided walks, Qi Gong, meditation, and more. *** We invite you to come to campus or attend from home via Zoom. *** This year Day of Spirit is offered by donation so that everyone is able to participate.
