Framingham Democratic Caucus (at Nevins Hall)

The Framingham Democratic Town Committee will hold a caucus on Sunday, starting with registration opening at noon.The purpose of the caucus is to elect Framingham’s delegates to the 2012 Democratic State Convention, which is set for June 2 in Springfield.The caucus will meet at Nevins Hall in Framingham Town Hall, 150 Concord St. After registration, the caucus will start at 1 p.m. Arrivals after the call to order will not be allowed to register. Anyone registered as a Democrat in Framingham as of Dec. 31, 2011, is eligible to participate.Delegates will be equally divided between men and women. Framingham will elect 16 men, 16 women and five alternates to represent the town. Only those present at the caucus are eligible to be elected.If all delegate seats are not filled by those present, then people who cannot be present and who have informed the chairman of their willingness to serve as a delegate, can be appointed by those present. All ballots will be written and secret.Those not elected as a delegate or alternate who meet the qualifications can apply to be an add-on delegate in the following categories: youth, minority and disabled.Anyone with questions may contact Thomas Mahoney, the Framingham Democratic Town Committee chairman, at 508-259-6831 or thom.mahoney@gmail.com.A short business meeting will follow the caucus.
