Slowing Brain Aging / Preventing Dementia (at Edgell Memorial Library)

The Framingham History Center is presenting the program, “The New Frontier of Slowing Brain Aging-Preventing Dementia”, Thursday, September 8, 2011 7:00p.m. – 8:00p.m., featuring Dr. Sudha Seshadri at the Edgell Memorial Library, (the building with Civil War statue in front), 3 Oak St., Framingham Centre. *** Tickets: $5/FHC members, $10/non-members, (tickets may be purchased online at the FHC website at the door). Parking is available at Village Hall, (the building with white pillars facing Centre Common). *** As the keeper of the town’s collective memory, the Framingham History Center’s Memory and Meaning Series raises a series of questions as to what exactly is the nature of memory, and how does it function in the life of an individual as well as in a community? Why do we remember what we remember and why do we forget what we forget? Why does it matter? During this series, leading authorities from a variety of disciplines will help answer these questions. They will discuss the mind and memory from his or her unique perspective, representing the fields of history, medical research, psychology and the arts. In addition to fostering new insights into individual memory, the FHC hopes to encourage a dialogue on the importance of collective memory and how we choose to memorialize the past. *** Dr. Sudha Seshadri is a Framingham Heart Study Investigator, Associate Professor at B.U. School of Medicine and B.U. Alzheimer’s Disease Center. *** For more information about the program and other series speakers visit the History Center website (link below).
