Paul Rishell and Annie Raines
W.C. Handy Award Winners Paul Rishell & Annie Raines heat up the stage with their fiery blues. Steel guitarist Rishell, who played with the legendary Son House, is a master of the intricate and rhythmic fingerpicking styles of Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Robert Johnson. He sings with a depth and resonance that will liquefy your bones. Raines, hailed everywhere as the world’s best female blues harmonica player, sings her own blues songs and also plays mandolin and piano. Blues legend Pinetop Perkins says “She plays so good it hurts.” The duo will stomp, croon, pick, and wail their way across time and place, with delicate ragtime pieces, soul-drenched Delta moans, and the smokestack lightning of Chicago Blues. This world-class act gets better all the time and we’re thrilled to have them here at Amazing Things!
