Her brand new CD, Allure, and this Holiday program combine remarkably diverse offerings of musical styles ranging from Christmas favorites to French chansons, from operatic arias to Morricone film scores, jazz standards and musical theater selections. In performances, Ms. Zoubareva uses movement to break down the barriers between her and her audience, drawing them along on a musical odyssey. This ability to use her body in an inspiring, choreographed way, as well as her overall compelling stage presence, reflects many years of training in the Stanislavsky drama method. As one music critic wrote, “Her powerful stage presence radiates with the poise and grace of ballerina”Working together with a talented young arranger, Phil Acimovic and a famous Grammy nominated producer, Jonathan Wyner, Ms. Zoubareva performs with an ensemble of local internationally-trained musicians (piano, flute, cello, and percussion). Such colorful combinations of instruments bring a nearly orchestral sense to her performances.Elena, who played ice hockey as a child and was at one point a business executive, graduated from the Moscow State University and Berklee College of Music cum laude and has performed at the international and local New England venues, including the Moscow Army Theater, Moscow Theater Academy (GITIS), JFK Library in Boston.Location: Amazing Things Arts Center, 160 Hollis St (Route 126), Framingham, MA 01702For more information, call (508) 405-2787 or visit: www.amazingthings.org
